Dr. Susan Nancy Rabinowe, MD

When I received the diagnosis of cancer, I was terrified. Dr. Rabinowe was my oncologist. What a pleasure in my experience with her during a dark and difficult time. She is knowledgeable, compassionate and shares her knowledge and experience with you as a patient. She is a strong listener and always tracks back on questions you have as a patient. Not sure that the journey would have been so smooth without her genuine support and care. Hope my future remains cancer free and am eternally grateful to Dr. Rabinowe and her team at St Francis.

I called Dr. Rabinowe's office to make an appointment after finding myself in need of a new oncologist. I was told she was accepting new patients. The receptionist informed me they needed my records from my previous oncologist for the doctor to review. I sent a request to my previous oncologist for my records to be sent to Dr. Rabinowe. Thereafter, I spent 2 months on the phone back and forth with my previous oncologist's office and Dr. Rabinowe's office trying to figure out where my records were. Previous oncologist claimed to have sent them and refused to send them again unless each page was paid for (at $.65 per page, for almost 200 pages) by me. Dr. Rabinowe's office claimed they didn't receive them - but I had to go through the supervisor who had to check with the intake coordinator. Finally, the supervisor told me that they did have the records and had had them all along - they had been with the doctor. Unbelievable! She said the doctor was reviewing them and she would call back… the next day. The next day I did not hear from supervisor so I called at 4:45 and was told by her that the doctor had finished my records and would NOT be taking me on as a patient. I was stunned and asked why. Supervisor said she was just told to tell me that. I am outraged on so many levels. First, as a cancer patient, I don't have 2 months to wait while whatever was going on in that office played out. Second, if she was taking patients and does treat breast cancer, why was I denied services?

I have never met a more dedicated doctor than Susan Rabinowe, MD. I feel completely secure having her as my Oncologist.

Takes the time to do it right. I went to her for a second opinion and I felt as if I had entered a time warp, back to the time when a specialist actually reviewed all your records and scans (not just the reports, but re-read all your actual scans), did a through exam, and then sat with you to explain everything, answer all your questions, and make a treatment plan. She did all that. I was MORE than satisfied.

Knowledgeable but has no social skills with patients .. or staff. Temperament: Grade of F She would be excellent as an isolated researcher in a lab.

Dr Rabinowe on my very first appointment impressed me greatly. She took time to explain all the different types of treatments available for my type of cancer, including the different side effects for each treatment. Knowing it was a lot to digest she made sure I understood the procedures with a follow up phone call. My next appointment I was introduced to my nurse navigator & her team who would be available to answer any of my questions at any time. When a complication arose Dr. Rabinowe saw me immediately & made arrangements for me to see one of her colleagues ASAP to have another type of procedure unrelated to my cancer. Dr. Rabinowe treated me as if I was her only patient. I could speak volumes. I highly recommend Dr Rabinowe.
