Dr. Susan Christine Redmond, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Redmond since I moved to Tennessee in 2021. I did a ton of research before selecting my primary care dr. I’ve followed her along her journey to where she is today - owning her own practice. I am so happy and proud of her and want to share my experience with her. I went through a really tough time after I had knee surgery…. I ended up getting 2 blood clots and a pulmonary embolism (PE). I was put on blood thinners by the emergency room, and let her know what was happening. I also went to see a hematologist. I threw a second clot after being moved to new blood thinners. The hematologist I was seeing, wasn’t concerned and didn’t find it necessary to see me or run additional tests. I however, knew in my gut something was wrong. When I called Dr. Redmond, she immediately knew something was wrong, and asked me to come back in for additional blood tests. Dr. Redmond got the results and reached out to me at 7 PM on a Friday night after reviewing it.… She immediately moved me back to an injectable blood thinner, saying that some people metabolize certain blood thinners differently, which makes it seem like they’re not even taking them. My surgeon was also very concerned (same response at Dr. Redmond) and requested I transfer to Vanderbilt hematologist. I saw the Vandy hematologist, explained everything that was going on. She told me I was lucky to have a primary care doctor that was so knowledgeable, cared so much, and did EVERYTHING that she would have done. She told me it’s very possible Dr. Redmond might saved my life by moving me back to the injectable blood thinners. Yes you can find a primary care Doctor (one that will probably take insurance) but what kind of care will you receive? Will you sit with your doctor and actually be able to discuss your health in depth? Will you have your questions and concerns addressed? Unfortunately most Drs that take insurance are forced to see far too many patients in a day, and cannot provide the level of care necessary. Through the years she worked with me on many things - from genetic testing, to supplementation based on my bodies needs, to mental health, to physical health… You won’t find a better primary care Doctor around, someone who genuinely cares for her patients, and is incredibly knowledgeable.
