Knows her profession well...kind, thoughtful, gives you time to ask questions, does not beat around he bush, I like that, cares and follows up..rather GO to her then a male doctor any day. Feel more comfortable with her and her staff are always right on time with all they do. No problems. She's been right there for me through all my treatments with caring and thoughtful responses. She put me at ease. I will not let another discourious male doctor look at me......they have roaming fingers..yuk!!!

Bedside manners...be more compassionate toward patient (their weight, etc).

Dr Hovenden is amazing she saved my life and my twins lives I pray for her recognition every day . I hope she stays in the are it would be a huge loss if she left pa.

She is HORRIBLE! As another person said, her bedside manner is non-existent. I saw her a few times when I was trying to get pregnant, and also for a "mass" on my right ovary. She was emotionless, compassionless and impatient. She never spent more than 5 minutes in the office with me, and that's the truth. I had questions, and she treated me like I was stupid for asking, like I should have known better. When you're having a difficult time getting pregnant, it can be an emotional time. If you are looking for a doctor who can help you be healthy, achieve your goals, and answer your questions on the path to finding a solution, GO TO SOMEONE ELSE! Oh, and the office staff here is catty and unprofessional. Obviously the bar isn't set too high when they are looking for nurses OR doctors at Ephrata Community OBGYN.

I have seen Dr. Hovenden 3 times in my life, and it has been too many. She has 0 bedside manner, she's fast and impersonal. I had an ovary removal in 2005 and in 2006 my husband and I were thinking about having children. I asked Dr. Hovenden if I would have a harder time have kids. She said that with one ovary it will be very difficult to have children, if at all. I thought she was cold with her response. Needless to say, I was pregnant 2 months later- so I took her words with a grain of salt. I seen her for a pap once, and she did not answer my questions, she was very round about. Even the nurse had made comments to me about her, and asked if I would send in a letter. She said many patients complain about her to the nurses. It's sad if your own staff can't even stand you, how do you expect your patients to?
