Dr. Susan Bassett Wilson, MD

Dr. Susan Wilson is a board certified Obstetrician Gynecologist with over 25 years of experience caring for patients. Over the past 10 years she has focused exclusively on gynecology and gynecological surgeries, with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery and menopausal issues. Providing gynecological expertise with personal attention to each patient is her specialty. Dr. Wilson is devoted to understanding womens issues in todays complex world of medicine. Dr. Wilson obtained her medical degree from Columbia Universitys College of Physicians and Surgeons before completing her residency training in Ob-Gyn at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. Her early years of practice were at Bostons Beth Israel Hospital where she became the director of the Womens Health Clinic, taught residents and Harvard medical students, authored several chapters in Ob-Gyn textbooks, and met her husband, an architect, while sailing on the Charles River. Dr. Wilson and her husband …moved to California and fell in love with the area. She has been able to combine private practice with a love of teaching and a commitment to quality at both California Pacific Medical Center and Saint Francis Hospital. She received a gynecological teaching achievement award from UCSF in 2009, and currently teaches residents and students from both UCSF and Dartmouth Medical Schools. The field of gynecological surgery has been rapidly evolving with the introduction of newer high tech modalities, and Dr. Wilson has expertise in minimally invasive hysterectomies, hysteroscopic myomectomies, and endometrial ablations the more standard surgeries. She serves as the Vice Chairman of the Gynecological Quality Assurance committee and is a member of the gynecological technology committee at CPMC, and the credentials committee at St. Francis Hospital. Dr. Wilson resides in Marin with her husband, son and daughter. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, skiing and the joy of outdoor activities. Raising a family here provides a true appreciation for all the Bay Area has to offer. Her commitment is to give patients the care she would want her own family members to receive.
