Dr. Sushil Duddempudi of Austin Gastroenterology saved my son's life and I will be forever grateful. I was scared reading through GI Doctor's reviews because they're not consistently positive. From my son's experience, I now understand that this specialty is fraught with misdiagnosis, not through any fault of the physicians, but just by the nature of the ailments that present. Google "obscure gastrointestinal bleeding". Researching this helped me understand that many GI patients go through months of diagnostic tests before their condition is properly diagnosed. After a week in the hospital and many blood transfusions Dr. Duddempudi found the elusive esophageal blood vessel that was causing my son to bleed out. It was hidden from view behind a fold. My son is a young adult aged 29. He described Dr. Duddempudi coming in his room jumping up and down with tears and laughter of excitement to tell him he found the cause of his bleeding and that he could fix it. Within 24 hours, he did so. He… was also compassionate enough, in the middle of this giant scare, to transfer my son from St David's Round Rock location to North Austin St David's, so he could be in the same hospital as his wife while she gave birth to their first child. I am moved beyond words by this man's kindness and dedication. If you are having trouble getting your GI issues properly diagnosed and treated, please don't give up. I unexpectedly and gratefully met Dr. Duddempudi bedside in my hospital room last week. I went in unexpectedly for gallbladder pain. Long story short I had gallstones and my liver as acting up. Dr. Duddempudi explained to me what was going in (despite my fuzzy pain medication brain fog), was very friendly, and skillfully performed an ERCP to remove stones before my gallbladder was taken out a few hours later. I am grateful for his compassion and skill and would recommend him.

I have been plagued with chronic pancreas problems for many years. Dr. Duddempudi spent the time to explain to me my condition and how we would go about treating it. He is the first doctor that has ever taken the time to actually explain anything to me. I am happy to say that I am recovering well. He is also really good about returning phone calls and I have personally recieved followup calls from him at nights and weekends after he is done with his day. Truly a terrific doctor.
