Dr. Suzanne Elizabeth Ames, MD

That's about all I have to, or more to the point, should say - about this person that calls herself a doctor. unbelievable.

What I like about Dr. Ames is that she actually listens to what you say. What she records in your medical records actually matches what you say to her.

She walked in, didn't ask a single question, and proceeded to misstate several key things from my chart (like what side of the body we were even dealing with and how long this had been going on). She then proceeded to give me very unhelpful (borderline bad) news, lacked empathy, and just tried to back peddle when I got upset. In the end it almost seemed like she was testing me to see if I was trying to get narcotics out of her and kept saying "well, you'll have to get off the narcotics for this." If she had bothered to look at my chart should would have seen that I'm not on any. The entire visit was an insult, completely unhelpful, and a colossal waste of time. It also took me more than 2 months of excruciating pain to even get in to see her only for her to say, "Yep, nothing I can do." What was strange is that every other doctor I've seen seemed to say that this exact surgery would be the exact solution, so to have behave this way made me really question her. Needless to say,… I'm going out to find a new doctor and to get some second opinions from other surgeons. Even if their prognosis is the same, there are about 100 better ways to present it to someone in pain.

Most memorable was her condescending attitude and lack of empathy approach. I would not recommend her. She likes to use the mind over pain theory, which I am way past finding useful for me.

I found that she was only concerned with pain that was related to her sergical proceduer. All the other back pain was normal and just have to suck it up and deal with it. I felt like I was being judged, and not treated fairly. I think she fixed the easy and obviouse problem and doesn't want to get involved with other back problems that I have. I felt like once she got my surgery out of the way and post op problems solved I was dumped.
