I wish I could give Dr. Shah six stars. He is truly one of the best physicians I have ever met. I went into my C-section with significant anxiety about my own health risks and, most importantly, the safety of my baby. This was my first pregnancy, and there were so many unknowns. I also suffered from severe nausea throughout my entire pregnancy, so it was extremely important to me that I not become nauseated or vomit during the surgery. Dr. Shah took the time to meet with me prior to the procedure, carefully explained exactly what would happen, and walked me through the specific medication “cocktail” he would use to manage my nausea. This alone was incredibly reassuring. I was especially frightened of the spinal anesthesia, but when Dr. Shah administered it, it was so gentle and painless that I almost didn’t feel it at all. I actually worried it hadn’t worked—but of course, it had. His skill was exceptional, and just as importantly, he was calm, confident, and deeply comforting… throughout the process. True to his word, I experienced zero nausea during the procedure. Given how sick I had been my entire pregnancy, this was an enormous relief and meant more to me than I can fully express. During the surgery, we talked about music, which helped keep me grounded and relaxed. The only discomfort I remember was some cramping in my shoulders, and Dr. Shah noticed immediately and took a moment to rub my shoulders until it passed. The surgery was over before I knew it. I am profoundly grateful to have had such a competent, attentive, and compassionate anesthesiologist during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. I will always remember Dr. Shah and the safe, successful birth of my baby.
