Dr. Syed Mohammad Saif Ahmed, MD

I never saw him until two appointment were cancelled for no product. I was told during a virtual appointment that my insurance did not cover treatment. I called my insurance three weeks later after second appointment was canceled to find out they never had received a call from Capital Neurology & Sleep Medicine. They did cover the my treatments.

I suffer from severe cluster headaches, for which, I have had the honor of being under the fabulous treatment of legendary neurologists Dr. James Lance in Sydney and Dr. Zahid Bajwa in Boston, people who literally wrote the books on migraines and similar headaches. I have been treated by Dr. Syed Ahmed for the last five years, and I can tell you that he is even better than these giants.  Dr. Ahmed is very well-trained, having done medical school and residency at top institutions. In addition, he stays on top of the medical literature, for instance, he asked me to check with my endocrinologist about the potential impact of the volatility of my blood glucose levels on my headaches.  But the best thing about him is that he is an extremely good listener, and as a result, is fundamentally conservative in his medical practice, in accordance with the ancient Hippocratic principle of "first, do no harm."  Finally, I cannot say enough nice things about his staff: Leslie, Melissa, and Ossama.… Whether it be fighting on my behalf with recalcitrant insurance companies for extremely complicated preauthorizations, or dealing with pharmacies, or scheduling me in urgent situations, they are truly THE BEST!!!

I have been seeing Dr. Ahmed for a few months now. From my first contact with them, his staff members have been courteous and professional. Dr. Ahmed has been extremely helpful in helping me manage my daily chronic pain. He even prescribed a medicine that has literally changed the manner in which I function daily. This is the most functional I have been in about eleven years. I am very pleased with Dr. Ahmed’s treatment.

I would not recommend this doctor; he didn't even introduce himself upon walking in the room. Showed no care/concern to hear of my problems and at one point told me, "I just don't know". I had to do lots of probing to get any feedback. He seemed to be having a rough start to the day, and didn't know how to leave it "at the door"... he was very disheveled. The entire experience was horrible, from front desk staff to the doctor... I came here based on all of the positive reviews and left in tears and highly disappointed. Waste of my money and time. He cares not to help patients get to the root causes of their concerns. Do not visit this doctor, especially if you're young and "look" healthy.

This office refused to fill a prescription that I take daily for chronic migraine. They said because I did not rescheduled an appointment they could not fill the prescription. I explained I only had 3 pills left and could not get to an appointment within that time frame and offered to schedule within the week yet they still refused. This is a classic case of MONEY before a patients WELFARE!! I am going to write to the medical board to report this atrocious behavior and policy.

Dr never returns phone calls !

Dr Ahmed prescribed Botox shots to ease the tension in my shoulders and relieve tightness in my neck. Prior to his analysis, I was in and out of the emergency room. Dr Ahmed had the correct prognosis and treatment recommendation when no one else could figure out what to do. He has helped me immensely. I highly recommend this doctor.

His staff did not give me a long enough new patient appointment. He was likable and approachable enough but, this doc seemed a bit overwhelmed by more obscure symptoms. He ended up misdiagnosing me and recording the wrong diagnosis in his notes. He did not address the concerns and symptoms I presented with and therefore offered me the wrong medication, which I did not take. I was left with no help for the problems I went to him for so now I need to find another doc. He may be a better bet for simple, more straightforward problems but not for more challenging issues.

He takes his time with you and is very personable.
