Dr. Syed M Ahmed, MD

One of the worse medical professionals I have ever seen in my entire life.

Dr. Ahmed is a psychiatrist, not a psychologist. He diagnoses and treats your medical condition(s) with prescriptions and referrals. If you are looking for psychotherapy, you need a counselor. It's just the way it is. He is not the only doctor that practices this way. Once you understand you'll more than likely need 2 doctors to treat your problem(s), you'll appreciate him a whole lot more.

I have been a patient of Dr. Ahmed for about 2 years and I have finally had enough to leave and search for a new psychiatrist. For the first year of seeing him he didn't even remember my name or school from visit to visit. I find this incredible given I am a student at the college across the street from his office and during that year I was admitted to Snowden for inpatient care, yet this did not merit him remembering my name. When he suggested that I begin to come off my medication I objected, claiming I had been feeling more anxious than I had in months, his reasoning was that I didn't want to surrender his attention or admit I was in recovery. He humored me an increased my dosage. In my most recent and final visit I expressed feeling more anxious that normal, his response to this was a a chuckle and "well hopefully we wont be having another breakdown now will we?" as we approach the two year anniversary of my visit to Snowden. Dr. Ahmed is demeaning, disrespectful, arrogant,… rude and i truly believe he does not care about his patients. Look elsewhere for psychiatric care.

If you are a fairly new patient of Dr. Ahmed's or thinking about scheduling an appointment with him, please broaden your horizons. This doctor sucks, bottom line. He's very cold and stale, there's very little communication in my 1 minute or 2 minute visits where all he does is look something up on a computer and says he'll see me in another month. Maybe for some, that's beneficial, but for someone who suffers from serious depression and other mental illnesses, this is complete trash. If you are taking the steps to battle your mental illnesses and you get stuck with a doctor like this, it's only asking for bad news. This at the end of the day is all opinion, but as an ex-patient of his, please take my advice and run away. This is personal motive for him, he's not about the people.

As a patient of Dr. Ahmed's, I have always found him attentive and helpful. He encouraged me to pursue a combination of medication and counseling, which I found very effective. I would gladly recommend him to my family and friends if they were ever in search of a psychiatrist.

This person, is not to be trusted with your personal information,he will use it against you in a very mean spirited way. I have never encountered such a poor quality doctor as this..Please If any one reads this your personal info is not personal with this dr. Money is his motive and it's obvious when you feel his lack of caring.

I only saw Dr Ahmed one time. It was a big hassle trying to even get an appointment. When I finally did see him, I was going through a lot of sadness and depression. I found him to be very cold and unsympathetic. He is very hard to understand because of his strong foreign accent. He just strikes me as the type of doctor who doesn't even really like people but just became a Dr to make money. I did not go back for a second appointment.

Make sure you get everything you need from a hospital stay, cause they will not do anything for you once you leave, not even right a note to employers

I saw this doctor for a few years and as time went by I was realizing how much I disliked him and his "bedside manner". He is rude,preoccupied by other things while in his office and I feel he does not deserve to have the title as a "MD". I specifically told him I was feeling more depressed over the past few months and I felt like my meds had more or less kinda reached its' level to helping me. I had been on the same med and dosage for about 2 years, and I was hoping he would increase the dose or add another med to my regimen. WRONG!!! He told me my meds were fine, I was at a dosage that was "high enough" and he wasn't going to do anything but see me back in a month. This treatment and the way I was talked to sent me into tears. He then proceeds to ask me why I'm crying. I told him because "you're my doctor and you're supposed to help me"...instead he sent me out the door and said he'd see me in a month. I scheduled the appt, came home and immediately starting looking for another… doctor. I found another one....in FAIRFAX. Yes, this is a long drive to see a psychiatrist but it is well worth the drive, time and gas to see a psychiatrist who will help me, listen to me and have a little empathy. The new doctor I found is wonderful! She listened to me and agreed with me that eventually your body gets used to the medication and you will no longer feel the affects as well as you should. So, if you are thinking of seeing this doctor....my advice to you is, you might want to think again if you are looking for a good psychiatrist who is willing to help you with your mental illness, because this doctor could care less.

told me one price for his service,then changed it after i had paid what he said.Didn't care when i confronted him.told meto find another doctor after he had took 600.00,which isn't refunded.I felt i was robbed.taking it to the next level,because i was lied to....He is taking advantage of sick people,because he is one of the few to subscribe it.He seems to me to be in it for the money.BEWARE OF THIS DOCTOR!!!!!
