Dr. Syed E. Ahmed, MD

No stars if it was allowed. This doctor was very condescending. He gaslit regarding my insomnia and depression commenting that I should just be able to get out of the bed because I'm a "smart woman and could figure it out". Whenever I tried to advocate for myself, he would get upset, throw his hands up and roll his eyes while cutting me off. He was not a good listener and kept trying to tell me what I was feeling in my own body. He only tried 3 medications and when they didn't work or had bad side effects, he threw his hands up again and said he didn't know what else to do. He also took me off the meds abrutly causing me to go into a panic attack. I told him if he felt my situation was too complex for him, then to point me to another doctor. He shoveled some papers around on a table, said he couldn't find the numbers then prescribed me a med that he new needed a pre-auth and then went on vacation for a month! His office staff is incompetent as well. No one gave me an on call doctor… before Ahmed went on vacation. My insurance company even called the office with me on the line to get the med situation handled, to tell his office exactly what they needed so that I could get what I needed and nothing a month later. Needless to say I was a month without medication and my therapist stated I went into some type of mania from not sleeping. I don't understand how people like this are allowed to prescribe medication. They hurt more than helped. I was so out of sorts and distraught that I went off on his secretary because she had no empathy for my situation and kept also gaslighting me and asking me did I do things that was their job to do in order to get the care I deserved as a patient. Thank God my therapist helped me find another Dr a day after my final call to that horrible place. Do no go here if you truly value getting better.

I was misdiagnosed by a nurse practitioner. The haphazard misdiagnosis cost over 1000 hours of negative intrusive thoughts, jeopardized my future, and permanently damaged my relationship with psychiatry. If you work in the military/federal role, you know of the steep punishment for those who are assigned stigmatized labels. A misdiagnosis must be reported in the SF-86 paperwork every five years, forever tarnishing our moral character. The misdiagnosis was more traumatic than the event that led me to get help in the first place. Dr. Ahmed was smart, kind and removed the soul crushing misdiagnosis. The condition isn’t chronic, but the shame sure is. I now understand why people don’t get help. Getting hurt by the help is the worst betrayal of all. Thank you for the letter clarifying the temporary event. Five out of five, would see again if needed

He is always very nice and helpful. I have been seeing him for several years now and he has helped me greatly.

I recently switched Dr's to Dr. Ahmed. I found that he listened to my symptoms and prescribed a medication that has significantly changed my mood. It did take time getting up to a therapeutic dose, but he explained the process each step of the way. We did telehealth appointments due to COVID and they were as helpful as in office appointments. I feel I had to wait a reasonable amount of time to get in as a new patient.

Dr. Ahmed has helped me over the years. He is fair, ethical and always professional. He is timely and doesn't cause for me to wait long periods of time. I feel that my needs are met and that he has my best interest at heart.

Dr. Ahmed allows me to participate fully in my own treatment plan. I don't always agree with him, but we always manage to come to decision with are both OK with. He is intelligent, personable, and has a good sense of humor.

Dr. Ahmed is a very caring doctor. Takes time to listen to his patients. The staff there are very pleasant and the office is nice.

At first, I had my reservations about Dr. Syed Ahmed. I sometimes left his office feeling unassured, but I knew he was very smart and very competent. I decided today that I wholeheartedly trust him, his intelligence, his methods, and his recommendations. I think I had a pre-misconception about what was wrong with me, but I genuinely feel that he is setting me on the right path and direction. I hope that by continuing to see him and trying to implement his suggestions, advice, and wisdom, I will feel much better. I am beginning to see that he is not only brilliant and knows what he is doing and why, but also that he does have a clear plan and intended outcome for my psychiatric care.

I have been a patient of Dr. Ahmed at Benhaven Counseling for over a year now and I just love him! I don't understand how the previous reviewer rated him the way they did.Dr. Ahmed is very caring and very very smart. He is the only doctor who worked with my meds to try to find the right RX for me. I have never felt better in my life.He speaks with a slight accent and is VERY easy on the eyes! He is VERY professional, VERY kind, and VERY smart. I love him and would recommend him to anyone.
