Dr. Syed Fahim Alam, MD

Dr. Alam is the worst medical professional I've ever come into contact with. The red flags began upon my arrival. red Flag #1: I arrived a half-hour early (as I was instructed) to fill out new patient paperwork. I completed the paperwork. The questionnaire was not thorough at all, which was extremely alarming given the fact that these doctors treat people with mental health/behavioral issues. I completed the questionnaires with 15 minutes left to spare before my scheduled appointment time. Red flag #2: Dr. Alam blatantly opted to see a patient who had an appointment after mine because he knew as a new patient, my appointment would take longer and he was behind. Normally this wouldn't have bothered me, but Dr. Alam was already running behind due to his inability to manage his own time or over-booking. By the time I was seen, it was 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment time and I had been in the office for an hour and 10 minutes. Red Flag #3: I've been seen consistently (a minimum… of once-a-month) by a mental health professional for the past three years. I am at a very stable place with my medications and therapy, and made that clear countless times throughout the appointment. Every question Dr. Alam posed was asked with a tone of condescension. He spoke over me CONSTANTLY, never letting me finish my thought or sentence. When asking why I was hospitalized at one point, while I was providing background on the situation, he told me to get to the point. I have never been told my a medical professional, especially a mental health professional, to "get to the point" when discussing something so intimate and delicate as mental health issues. I was flabbergasted by this. Finally, when I told him the medications I was on (which I am comfortable with and have been stable on for over a year-and-a-half), he wanted to reinvent the wheel and try different medications/doses. He insisted on seeing me again before prescribing me medication, even though I told him I was almost out of my current medications (clearly trying to grab another co-pay from me). I couldn't wait to get out of his office & left knowing I would never return to this office again. Do not schedule an appointment here unless you want your time wasted, to be spoken down to, and to be disrespected.

I have been struggling with concentration issues for the past couple years, and no one believed the issues I brought up. I finally went to Dr. Alam and he reassured me that it is a “classic case of ADHD” and gave me proper medication. I’ve been doing a lot better now and struggling a lot less in class and in general. Very thankful!

Dr. Syed F. Alam Lectured me during a panic attack, told me word for word- "I am the one here that went to med school" and to "Get a medical degree and write my own prescriptions" while on an emergency visit due to reoccurring panic attacks. He shows no sympathy for anybody with financial disadvantages and will under-prescribe you to save his own face. Insisted i had a condition that- (In fact do not have) and wanted me to listen to him and never ask questions. Also will not get back to you for at least a week if you call the office. Do yourself a favor and find another psychiatrist.

This human being is NOT a Dr. He is rude, disrespectful, and only wants his copay. He spends 6 minutes with you. He doesn't listen to how you are feeling. I had very painful cysts on my ovaries. My boyfriend AND my mom AND myself all called him a total of 6 times. Both people are also on my paperwork on my list of people that I allow him to talk to. Left 5 messages total About how my estrogen level was unbalanced and I was hysterically crying for 5 days straight. About 6 days later, he calls my boyfriend and says he will call me ASAP. Never called me. This was a month ago. I had no anxiety medication left and needed him to refill. What a quack. Don't waste your time

He is a terrible human being and doctor! He doesn't remember patient history and blames it on " not having enough time to read the chart" which in my opinion I believe it is his job to read the chart and know what his patient is there to see him for. He is disrespectful and rude, he doesn't care about his patient all he wants is a copay. He demands to see the patient ever 2 months and doesn't give any leeway for people who juggle a job and children and can't always make it in every 2 months. I would never recommend him to anyone, and frankly doesn't even deserve a medical degree!

Dr Syad checks meds, asks what's been going on in my life (stressors), is very personable and is one of the best doctors I have been to.

THIS GUY IS TERRIBLE. HE SCHEDULES MY APPOINTMENTS A WEEK AFTER MY MEDS ARE UP, THEN DOESN'T CALL IN REFILLS. SO EVERY MONTH I GO THROUGH WITHDRAWAL UNTIL I SEE HIM. HE WON'T RESPOND TO PHONE MESSAGES AND HIS STAFF NEVER PICK UP THE PHONE. HE IGNORES ALL MESSAGES FROM PHARMACIES FOR REFILLS.

Dr Alam is the MOST amazing doctor ever. I would pay 1,000,000 dollars if i had to just to see him. he is sympathetic, softspoken, helpful, reassuring, prompt, and most of all HONEST. though the staff is a bit eh, Dr Alam is #1 doctor of the year in my book. !!!
