Dr. Syed Jamal Mustafa, MD

I have been seeing Dr Jamal Mustafa for several years now. He is knowledgeable, kind and supportive in my treatment and has been very responsible in prescribing medication to me. He has an excellent reception staff member Anaya (Anna?) who really cares about patients and goes out of her way to communicate and return calls, etc. There seems to be a turnover with some of the reception staff but recently I notice an improvement in making appointments, relaying messages, etc.

College students! ATTN: This guy just hands out pills. I spent my entire high school experience absolutely messed up on adderall, and might be thinking of going back now that I am partying a lot more. Go here for adderall with no questions asked(he loves money more than anything else)

I saw him for a while when I was a teenager. He saw some friends of my brother, and they said he was fantastic. He put me on a benzo for a couple months, and not much else. After 3 or so appointments, he asked me if I was on birth control and I told him no. He flipped out on me, yelled, and wouldn’t let me get a word in edgewise. He then prescribed me a medication I had previously taken that gave me a bad reaction (he was aware of this), took me off the benzo cold turkey, and refused to answer any of my questions. It felt very petty and vindictive. I cried on the way home and never went back. All of my female friends, and later a female counselor I had, told me they had all had horrible experiences with them after I confided in them, but all of my male acquaintances that saw him had good ones. Stay away.

I saw him for less than a year. They have no idea what they are doing. I was asked what I thought I should be prescribed and would get it (not narcotics or benzo's). But to be asked what mood stabilizer or anti psychotic I wanted to be on is terrifying. YOU are supposed to tell me as the professional! Esp since I was post par-tum this could have turned out really bad had I not realized how incompetent they were. DO NOT go here this place is scary!

Dr Mustafa and staff are unresponsive and completely indifferent to patient care. They do not return phone calls even in emergency situations and staff is either incompetent or indifferent. DO NOT GO HERE If YOU WANT ANY KIND OF ADHERENCE to the hypocritic oath.

Dr. Jamal was instrumental in treating two of our children. We literally trusted him with their lives as I doubt they would be the happy adults they are today without his help.

This office is extremely hard to get in touch with, you have to leave a message...they don't answer phone calls. That is frustrating. The doctor is great, but because the office is so disorganized and doesn't always return phone calls, I left as a patient. I would recommend him as a doctor if you don't mind the office side of things.

Dr Mustafa's secretary is a real piece of work. If your frustrated and in real need I help she thinks she's being "attacked." When you try to explain the severe incompetence of his employee he becomes extremely defensive. He has no idea what he's prescribing and the amount changes every visit because he has no idea who his patients are. It's as if he forgets who you are the instant his door closes behind you. The woman who handles insurance claims and billing does not actually work in an office. She works from home and when there is a problem Mustafa and staff will not assist in contacting the responsible parties. They will tell you the only way is to you to deal with the insurance company's and their coding. This practice has made things worse for my family in the end. They cause a great deal of stress on people who already can't handle their current load. I've seen my family member leave in tears more often then not. And honestly, it's usually caused from stress created by his… sceretary atleast half the time. Like I stated earlier, if this is brought to his attention he becomes extremely defensive, raises his voice and seems Miley aggressive. I recommend not investing any resources in this practice. It should be shut down.

The doctor does not care even to look at the patient. Do not do diagnosis.

It is not enough that the doctor had terrible office staff, his wife does the testing, and he does not care at all.
