Sylva Zelena, PT

Sylva has been working in the area of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy for over 15 years. She works with various diagnoses in the male and female adult population. Sylva has a well-known presence in our community and is highly motivated and passionate about her profession. She graduated from Hunter College of the City University of New York with Bachelor’s of Physical Therapy degree and Zdravotnicka Skola in Brno, The Czech Republic. She also holds The Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Health Physical Therapy (CAPP) through the American Physical Therapy Association. She demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in threating all forms of pelvic floor dysfunction in men and women. She is able to provide high-quality care and provides a safe environment and strong relationships with her patients. To see consistent positive results with her patients and the educational influence she has on fellow medical providers has further deepened her passion for her profession. Sylva is one of very few …clinicians in our network to take on treating predominantly men’s pelvic health. Because of this, she is the preferred provider for many of our St. Luke’s urologists, gastroenterologists and surrounding OB doctors in our hospital system. Sylva has also practiced at Sacred Heart HealthCare System, NYU School of Medicine/Bellevue Hospital and Madison Avenue Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness Outpatient Clinic in New York City. She has also practiced internationally in the city hospital U Bratri Milosrdnych in Brno, The Czech Republic. As a multilingual PT, she can treat and communicate with a variety of patients in their languages to make them more comfortable and provide that safe environment during treatment which can often seem intimidating.
