Dr. Sylvan S Mintz

Dr. Sylvan S. Mintz is an Orofacial Pain, TMJ and Dental Sleep Medicine specialist serving the Bethesda area for the past 17 years. After graduating from the University of Maryland as a general dentist, then serving two years in the Army with a year tour in Vietnam, he went on to become a pediatric dentist serving Southern Maryland for over 30 years. An interest in TMJ led him to obtain additional education at Rutgers Dental School and then limit his practice as a TMJ specialist. Dr. Mintz is the only dentist in MD, DC, and VA board certified by both the American Board of Orofacial Pain and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Mintz is currently a regular consultant to the Orofacial Pain clinic at Walter Reed National Medical Center, active staff (holds an academic advisor position) at the National Children’s Hospital Sleep Center, is on the Deans faculty at the Maryland Dental School, and an assistant professor at GW Medical School in the department of Pediatrics. Dr. …Mintz just published an article in “Sleep and Breathing” a 14-year case study of over 500 patients using sleep appliances. He lectures extensively.
