Dr. Sylvia Castro, MD

I am very surprise to read bad reviews about Dr. Castro because I completely trust her and she was amazing during my 2 pregnancies. During the first one back in 2013 I was in labor for about 36 hours, and was simply not opening. I ended up having a C-section , then exactly a year later I got pregnant for the second time. I was advised by friends, family members and even other doctors that i had to have a c-section due to the risks involved in wanting to have a vaginal delivery but I didn't care I was determined to have my baby naturally. I hate it the c-;section recovery and thankfully Dr. Castro supported me every step of the way, and made arrangements at another hospital in order to have the best attention and care possible in case of an emergency C-section. The day my second baby decided to be born Dr. Castro had a conference and a flight to catch just few hrs. Before my baby was born but she waited with me till the last minute. Sadly my baby took a bit longer and she left but send… another doctor to replace her. I have now two beautiful girls 1yr and 9 months apart from each other and they are both healthy and there is only one person I can thank for that which is Doctor Castro. Whoever writes a bad review either simply had a bad day when they had their appointments or simply did not communicate enough. And in regards to the doctor not being available all the time "women pleaseeee understand" these are on call doctors. We are not their only patients and in fact if one of their patients is delivering no matter If they have 110 scheduled appointments! Their responsibility as obgyns is to go to the one having the baby! I had at least 5 rescheduled appointments with other obgyns or nurses when I was pregnant. Doctors can not be particular! Please understand that!!! And be more open minded!!!! Women, when we are pregnant we want all the attention and the best care, our hormones are everywhere but we need to be patient and be understanding! Seriously

I had a possible big baby scare with my first child and dr Castro said to me in the operation room that if my baby wasn't at least 9lbs she should quit her job. He ended up 8lbs 9oz, she should have and that is why. She needs to inform herself about big babies and not push for c-sections for a possible scare and a very low chance of delivery difficulty. I wish I knew what I know now back when I got my c-section. I switched to Premier Care and the staff here all frown as to the reason behind her decision to schedule a c-section. I would not recommend this dr. Unless you want a c-section. I am very disappointed that I was manipulated into thinking a c-section was the best decision possible.

I was a patient of Dr. Castro. 7 months into my pregnancy I developed a severe case of pelvic gurdle pain and carpal tunnel in my left hand (diagnosed by another physician) to the point where my bed had become our downstairs couch and I couldn't even get up to use the restroom unless I used a walker my family wasn't home to help me. Dr. Castro not once asked me about my symptoms and cut me off when I was explaining it to her at my appt and just referred me to a Physical Therapist who had only seen two pregnant patients within then past few months. When the time came for me to submit the paperwork for my short term disability claim to be excused from work with half of my pay Dr. Castro wanted me to come back to the office a little over a week after I had just seen her, even though i explained how painful it is for me to move come in, all just to tell me she is denying my request and typically women have to take narcotics or get their labor induced if the pain is that severe (great… recommendation doc while I'm 27 weeks pregnant) plus she said I haven't really been going to the ER due to the pain. I went once and they explained that due to me being pregnant they couldn't do anything for the pain (understandable, so why would I keep going?). She felt as if I could still perform my work duties (when I cant even sit in a chair longer then 10 minutes) She denied my claim but approved me for non paid FMLA. And pretty much left with the option of "I can take my 12 weeks leave now or after my baby is born" I've never walked out of a Dr's office before (well barely) but I was so upset, I switched physicians immediately. The lack of communication in have received from Dr. Castro is unreal. I believe she may have to many patients idk but she never remembered anything from the visit before or any event that may have happened with me. Very disappointing because I had read some reviews on her and I thought she would have been perfect. I was wrong.

I went to Dr. Castro for about 5 years after moving to Arizona. I enjoyed Dr. Castro on a personal level. She is very nice and easy to talk to. However, after going through a difficult time trying to conceive, I felt that she was just not available. I called once and it took 5 days for anyone at her office to even call me back. After 2 miscarriages, you would think her Team would show a bit more compassion. After my second miscarriage, I even had an appointment with her and she was not even in the office. No explanation. A Nurse met with me and gave me little to no guidance....completely pointless for my husband and I to take the time to go to the office. The office staff is typically pretty busy and pretty rude. After an incredible experience with a Specialist, I realized that I could get better support and assistance somewhere else. It really opened my eyes. I now go to a different OBGYN as I am in a healthy pregnancy and find that I can am getting an incredible amount of support… which I never got with Dr. Castro.

Felt at ease with Dr. Castro doing my surgery. Had full confidence in her.

Sylvia was awesome. You cannot find a more sincere doctor on the face of the earth.
