Dr. Tad Loren Gerlinger, MD

Had a total hip replacement after YEARS of struggling. I am still recovering but doing great! I spent the time researching the best surgeon for me; they are not all created equal. Dr. Gerlinger has a stellar reputation. I am in the medical device field and my colleagues who know his work, sing his praises. I highly recommend reading his bio and watching his video. His team is impressive and his protocol/process is buttoned up. We set my surgery date and his team handled everything from there. He specializes in minimally invasive procedures which is a big deal. For total knees, the incisions can be 6-9"; Dr. Gerlinger's is half that. No one wants a frank 'n' knee. My recovery (almost week 3) has been accompanied by daily messages that have been inspirational and helpful! I have been guided everyday and have a clear understanding of what to expect. I cannot say enough about my experience and how happy I am! My other hip needs to be replaced and I know I will be in great… hands. I have already referred a friend and will continue the referrals!!!

This brilliant gentleman recently replaced my hip. It was such a wonderful experience that I cannot wait for the other hip to go bad. Seriously, he is absolutely amazing. His team is terrific. I have recommended him to several people who are experiencing issues like I have had to address. I am so grateful for people who actually studied in college, unlike me who partied in college. My post-op care with Dr. Tad Gerlinger after knee-replacement surgery was very disappointing. I was in extreme pain from both the surgery and new sciatica, yet when I asked for muscle relaxers, he dismissed my pain as “in my head” and said they “don’t work.” Despite my leg staying bent through three visits, his only advice was to “stretch my hamstrings,” with no discussion of other options or tests. Months later, a revision surgeon discovered the 13 mm spacer he used was too large—replacing it with a 9 mm spacer immediately fixed my alignment and pain. His aftercare caused unnecessary pain and lost recovery time.

I had a non-invasive partial knee replacement with Dr. Gerlinger. A month later, I am walking virtually pain free with very limited mobility, and a hairline scar. Dr. Gerlinger and his staff were professional, efficient, and kind. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Many thanks to Dr. Gerlinger and his staff. Kudos to all!

Greetings Dr. Gerlinger, Thank God for your skills and tenacity. You told me to return when I had my insurance covered. You told me that you would take care of me. You replaced my Left Knee in 2016. Thank God, I found you. I am joyously satisfied with my results. I pray that you remain healthy and available for my pending right knee replacement. I will return to Chicago for that procedure.

I am writing to recommend Dr. Gerlinger for hip replacement surgery. I had my hip replaced in the summer 2022. I am so grateful for his expertise and his excellent staff. It could not have been a better experience. Dr. Gerlinger took the time to explain my options to me in detail, and he answered all of my questions. He also made me feel very comfortable and at ease. The surgery went smoothly, and I was able to go home the same day. I had almost no pain in the days following surgery. I am now 12 months post-surgery, and I am doing great! I have no pain, and I am able to walk, run, anything I want. I practically forget I even have a new hip. I am so grateful to Dr. Gerlinger and his amazing staff! He is an excellent surgeon, and he truly cares about his patients. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is considering hip replacement.

I just had a partial knee replacement performed by Dr. Tad Gerlinger and can highly recommend this fine surgeon. Not only is Dr. Gerlinger attentive and most importantly expert in his medical training/performance, but he stays with his patients from beginning until the end of recovery. His morning, afternoon and evening text messages truly make recovery easy. Finally, Dr. Gerlinger's staff/team is the most hospitable and service oriented I have ever experienced from a medical group.

Earlier this year, I found my self in need of an orthopaedic surgeon. I was recommended to Dr. Gerlinger from Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago by a friend. After a thorough consultation, I new he was the specialist for me! In the last six months, Dr. Gerlinger replaced both my hips. His expertise and approach to surgery made my experience better than I could have hoped for. His staff of nurses and therapists were also very skilled and focused on my well being and successful recovery. With satellite offices around the Chicagoland area, I was able to choose sites close to home. I would definitely recommend Dr. Gerlinger to everyone!

With as difficult a case as I had, the doctor and staff were very helpful before, and day of surgery to replace my knee. Post operative follow up texts with links to how to properly exercise during rehab are encouraging and informative. Any concerns are put to rest with a simple phone call to staff nurses who take the time to help with useful information and remedies. I have never had such relief and can actually walk without pain for the first time in years. I have already recommended this doctor to friends and colleagues. I'm very grateful for their continuous support.
