Dr. Talal Waris Khan, MD

Very sympathetic and understanding doctor. Great bedside manner. Takes time to listen to the patient, which is rarity these days. No arrogance whatsoever, which also seems to be a rarity. Would highly recommend Dr Khan and/or his nurse practitioner.

This physician appears at first glance to want to help but just about the time you get ready to respond to his treatment option he is up and ready to leave the room. I have never had an appointment last more than 2 minutes. Dr. Khan states he has many more patients to see when he should be taking the time to see you. He does not take the time to get to know you but passes judgement upon your condition and uses it to make a care plan across the board. I have a chronic pain condition and he just pulled me off all meds and left me with excessive pain and thoughts of suicide. I realize if I don't find another doctor suicide is my only option because I can't take the pain. It is like a dog pulling off my skin and chewing on my bones. Dr. Kahn has no compasion for those in pain. He will treat a person with Cancer in pain differently than a RSD person in pain. I just don't understand it. Why would you leave someone in a time of crisis. The staff at KU Spine Center is anything but… helpful. The nurses act as if you are interrupting them any time you need to call the doctor or make an appointment. However, the nurses and staff at the KU Med West offic are very courtess. This group does not have an on call doctor that will treat you after hours if it is not your own physician. The doctor does not return calls to other physicians either. He has a cockiness about him that he can make a million dollars a day or else. He certainly schedules that way. At 2 minutes per patient, I'm sure that he is. He will give you medication "he" wants to give you no matter if it makes you ill or not. He tries to brush off any comments you may say about your health as if you don't know what you are talking about.

IF you can get in, he is great.
