Dr. Tamara T Tencer, PhD

I sent Dr. Garrity a detailed email regarding my neuromuscular illness. She regarded it as a neurological illness when defending her behavior as a professional, and said it was why I was irritated with her when she raised her voice to me during therapy. She also was accepting of my partner's ultimatum for therapy: no discussions of the past- only discussions of what is happening in the present. Dr. Garrity accepted this demand. Anything that was presented to her during therapy was what she believed was the truth and no further investigation or questioning was needed for her. She counseled one-sidedly. I have been to therapy throughout my life as needed in various challenging situations (i.e., cancer, death of a friend, parent, etc.), and unfortunately, Dr. Garrity does not stand up to challenging situations and perhaps does not have the experience or integrity to counsel patients with intricate problems or a patient with an abusive partner.
