Tamer Akel, MD

Dr. Tamer Akel specializes in internal medicine, providing comprehensive care for adult patients with a wide range of health conditions. He earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine and completed his residency training at Staten Island University Hospital. With 12 years of experience in practice, Dr. Akel brings extensive knowledge to patient care. He is fluent in English.

Dr. Akel practices at multiple Saint Joseph's health system locations, including Saint Joseph's University Medical Center, Saint Joseph's Wayne Medical Center, and Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital at University Medical Center in Rutherford, New Jersey. He has particular expertise in managing high blood pressure and hypertensive emergencies. His clinical skills include performing contrast echocardiography and transthoracic echocardiograms to evaluate heart function, as well as conducting exercise stress tests to assess cardiovascular health.
