Dr. Tammy Lynn West, MD

Love her , easy to approach

I have been seeing Dr. Tammy West for a few years. She is friendly, professional and approaches things sensible. My 16 year old daughter moved from a pediatrician to her and she loves her, feels comfortable around her and trusts her. We are lucky to have a great family doctor.

Unfortunately, never even got to meet the doctor because it took so much just to get through the setting up the first appointment that I eventually canceled. First, they made a big deal about me and my son scheduling on the same day which that ended up being a problem in the girl who scheduled me felt so bad and said she was new and jesses doing what they told her to do. After she scheduled the appointment she called me back and let me know she had to change the appointments because she shouldn't have scheduled that way in case both new Patients didn't show up. I was still ok at this point. Second, they confirmed the appointment in the morning before which was fine. But, then they decided to call me at 6:30 at night to double confirm as if we would never show up. Now I am getting a little offended but dealing with it. Finally, they decided to call me the morning of the appointment to tell me that the doctor ran a medicine background on me and to let me know that she does not prescribe… narcotics. As if I picked a new PCP for my son and I because I'm looking for drugs. This concerns me. So I called my pharmacy and the pharmacist ran a maps on me. The last narcotic I was prescribed had been over three months and prior to that was eight months ago! I asked my pharmacist if two perscriptions in the last eight months constitutes a warning. They said absolutely not! How rude to keep bothering your potential patients as if they would not show up for their appointments and then to call them and let them know if you're coming in for drugs we don't do that. How very unprofessional. I have never been more insulted in all my life. I could see if there were something huge in my background. But there was nothing! But this doctor felt the need that I had to be called before the appointment just to make sure I wasn't coming for drugs . Instead of being professional and maybe bring it up during our appointment or having some form of paperwork they give their new patients when you're filling out forms or tell all new patients at time of scheduling or anything else besides the constant calls and insults . I really wouldn't have cared! But to be so Presumptious and assume I needed to be told that before my appt and to be treated as if I wouldn't show up from the time I scheduled is rude and offensive! The worst part is girl that called the last time said she is only doing what the doctor told her. So I can't even blame it on the staff since it came from the horses mouth! So even though I have never actually met this Dr. I would never recommend her because you don't treat patients as if they are going to do something bad without ever having any history with them. Needless to say, I absolutely canceled both appointments. Be careful what you wish for... You created your own reality! You made me cancel! How ironic! Lol! They need to handle their new patients with a more professional manner.

The majority of the office staff is very helpful, but Susie (works at the front desk) is arrogant and unhelpful. She ruined a very good doctor experience. If this was the first time dealing with her arrogance, I wouldn't write about it, buts it's an every visit issue.

I do not know how anyone could rate Dr. Tammy West and her office staff anything but 4 stars !!! She is so caring, understanding and compassionate.... The office staff is A-1. !!!!
