Dr. Tanaquil Tamara Taubes, MD

I came to Dr. Tania with a problem that was not her specialty. I felt like I had exhausted all other options, and I was willing to give anything a try. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Dr. Tania is a rare gem. She has become a yeshiva student of my disorder (that was her joke- but it is true!). She is extremely detailed in her care for me- making sure she understands every side effect, adverse effect, and life effect. She makes sure I am an educated patient- - - that I understand each theory that might help me and every decision I am making in my care. Many reviews have mentioned that she treats her patients with dignity, and I think this is only one of the ways in which she empowers her patients. She communicates with my other doctors to make sure there is cohesion in my care. She returns phone calls. Her recommendations to me have been detailed, brilliant, and tailored to fit my needs. But most of all, Dr. Taubes is genuine. She has not just been a… doctor to me, but also an advocate for my needs. Her care and concern just do not stop.

However, I think what most people are not addressing, which I believe to be key is what a superb diagnostician she is. In my particular case, I had been diagnosed with a particular condition by a clinician I was seeing when I was living in Philadelphia. When I was to see Dr. Taubes, she listened very intently about this diagnosis, asked me several germane questions, and suggestions my symptoms MIGHT be a manifestation of something else. She prescribed a medication, explained in great detail and with enviable clarity, WHY she was prescribing it, potential side effects and benefits I would reap, all with great precision. She urged me to contact her IMMEDIATEDLY if I experienced any adverse reactions. Very precise in the why and the wherefore, I felt better in a trice ~so apart from her very many humane qualities, her impressive breadth and knowledge of neuro-science and MUST not be overlooked. Au courant with the latest treatments, she is a first rate, tripe distilled, five star… clinician.

It took me three years to find a psychiatrist with Dr. Taubes's credentials, but more importantly, someone with whom my son looked forward to discussing his substance use and psychiatric problems. My son improved to the point that he enrolled in college and got good grades. Dr. Taubes was relentless in her efforts, going above and beyond the call of duty.

I have nothing but the highest praise for this woman. She strikes the right balance between being absolutely professional, but she is NO autonotom. She cares very deeply for her patients, their emotional well being and REALLY goes that extra mile. I have a very high opinion of her character and her capabilities. I have the greatest respect for her as a person and professional and I am amazed at her incisiveness, her great sense of humor, her genuine warmth ~ she is absolutely wonderful ~ a natural psychiatrist, objective, but with a special brand of lace around the ventricles of her heart for her patients. I am bound to address the previous patient who posted. Dr. Taubes was in a serious car crash several years ago and was forced to surrender her burgeoning practice. She CERTAINLY did not leave anyone in the lurch, made referrals and put the needs of her patients first and foremost. Yes, she has downsized her practice, but her faculties are as KEEN as ever, as is her insight and… compassion. Shame on the mean spirited tenor of that post. I don't know why people are compelled to be so ugly.

I went to Dr. taubes at a particularly awful stage in my life. I was experiencing all sorts of terrible depression and also psychotic episodes. Dr. Taubes saved my life, treated me with incredible respect and without judgement. She also followed up with nightly phone calls, to help regulate my medications. When i say she saved my life i mean that without her, i would likely be dead. today i am successful and the father of a 6 month old baby girl. I hope she gets back to her practice soon.

I have been under Dr.Taube's care for nearly a year and I can not say enough about her as a professional psychiatrist and as a person. I have formed a very high opinion of her character and capabilities. I respect her as a person and she has been the greatest possible help to me during what's been a very rough patch for me. She has enormous insight, perspicacity and compassion. One gets the sense that she REALLY cares and she has gone the distance for me, offering wise counsel, constructive guidance and sound advice. She manages to maintain the delicate balance between professional and the deeply personal and manages this with great alacrity and skill. I would recommend her very highly as one who knows he has been helped as a direct result of her treatment and care.

Very helpful, gets right to the heart of the problem and helps clarify conflicting decisions and problems without judgement. Very authentic, not a typical "shrink."

I had had several therapists before working with Dr. Taubes aka Tania. My former therapists seemed to care in an honest way but Dr. Taubes cares in a profound way. This is coupled with an uncanny talent of grasping what the core block or fear is. Her humanity has freed me to love my work more and to be me caring toward others and importantly more caring toward myself.

Tania is a great doctor, she helped me so much, she is so caring and empathetic towards me and my troubles.
