Dr. Tania Sandoval Zuniga, MD

She has done very well by me I have many medical issues. She had her nurses calling me when I had been in the Emergency Room. Because of doing a follow up. Her personality is fantastic and her nurses that work for her are very nice. Along with the receptionist.

I am a medically educated patient who understands much about my own problems and have found a Dr. who doesn't discount my input! She is a gem among a pile of stones! We have both learned much in the past 3 years and am grateful for her ability to listen. If only My. Nittany will continue to recognize her and not discard her efforts, like they have done with so many others.

I been going to her for 4 years. Never again she shouldnt even be a doctor. Finding a new doctor

I was a patient of Dr. Zuniga's since she came to Geisinger in Philipsburg. I have numerous chronic health issues which I was being treated for by her as well as several specialists. In 2009, I had a surgery to remove cancer and subsequently developed severe irritable bowel syndrome. For over a year, I was crippled by severe abdominal pain and constipation. In retrospect, I do not understand how Dr. Zuniga couldn't have diagnosed this as IBS, but I ended up getting a half dozen CT Scans, Xrays and saw doctor after doctor and not a single one of them including Dr. Zuniga took my symptoms (extreme stomach pain, complete constipation, naseau, and bleeding) and diagnosed me with IBS. Instead I was subjected to an enormous amount of unneccesary radiation! It was finally my oncologist who referred me to a gastroenterologist who diagnosed and treated me for the IBS. How pathetic. Now I have to spend the rest of my life wondering what kind of damage was done with all of the radiation, and… worrying if my cancer will return because of it... all because my family doctor couldn't see the red flag waving in front of her face. I should have taken my health into my own hands at the time and found a new doctor, however, due to the depression I had and the pain I was in, I wasn't strong enough to see what was going on clearly. My eyes were opened when Dr. Zuniga failed me yet again. Due to a torn mensicus and worn cartiledge in my knees, my legs give out from under me at times and I have a hard time walking. I also have sciatica and it is impossible for me to walk far on uneven ground. In order to diagnose my knees, I needed to get an MRI. Due to my insurance requiring physical therapy before an MRI would be approved, I was sent 3 x per week to a physical therapists. During this time, I wanted to take several teens to a christian event which required us camping out for four days. I contacted Dr. Zuniga two weeks prior to the event, and asked her to give me a statement for the event so that I would be able to be placed in a camp site that accomodates people like me, who are not crippled, but who could not navigate the rugged terrain at the event. Due to my IBS, I also need to be close to a bathroom. The day before the event, I was sent an email by her nurse saying that Dr. Zuniga declined to give me the letter because I am "not crippled". When I explained to her that it was not a handicapped campsite, but for people who cannot navigate the terrain, she responded that these spots are "reserved for pregnant women and handicapped people in wheel chairs". I then responded by emailing her a copy of the events campsite policies, clearly showing that they have a handicapped section for those people, and also a secondary site where I wanted to stay which was designated for people who had problems that prevented them from climbing the numerous hills to get to the stage area. Her nurse again told me that Dr. Zuniga wouldn't sign anything. I was devastated. Thank God, when we arrived at the event, I explained what happened with my doctor and was put exactly where I needed to be, but if I had not been, this doctor would have ruined a trip that was a blessing to the kids we were trying to help. I am leaving this reveiw because I believe that Dr. Zuniga needs to open her eyes to how she treats her patients. She had the ability to help me and make a huge difference in my life, but because she negleted that opportunity, my health declined and I was exposed to horrible tests that further put me at risk. I pray that she will take people more seriously in the future and not ignore them as she did me. I understand that I have a lot of health issues, but to me it appears that she is only interested in treating people with "easy fixes". I am sorry I didn't just have a common cold and that I "baffled" her, but I am a human and have the right to be treated with respect. She at one point put her hands up in the air and told me that she didn't know what to tell me, that my CT scans looked fine so she really didn't know what else to do. (for the abdominal pain). From what I have found out, IBS is one of the most commonly dianosable diseases and I can't for the life of me figure out how she couldn't diagnose it. I honestly started to feel like a hypochondriacs because of the way she treated me. I have real health issues Dr. Zuniga... treatable ones. I just needed to find someone who cared enough to help me. I would hope that when you are faced with a more complexed patient in the future you would either refer them elsewhere so you don't waste their time and take part in their health declining due to neglect in care, or actually CARE ENOUGH TO TREAT THEM.
