Dr. Tanvir Mushtaq, MD

i've enjoyed being her patient for years...we've worked through dosage and reaction complications with my kid, and with her i honestly feel prepared to manage whatever comes next. this time around we got a letter to the school fast enough to help excuse my kid from some activities that he wasnt going to be able to get through...don't know what i would do without her!

Dr mushtaq is one who takes care of patient first. Always thinking of patient. My daughter heard sounds and did not do good in school. Dr mushtaq fixed her good .

She has been my child's Dr. for several years. I have been trying desperately to find someone else covered by insurance. After today I may have to save and pay out of pocket to someone else. We are 2 1/2 hours past the appointment time, and I have no idea if she left for lunch or what. Hopefully this long review will save some other unsuspecting parent that is already struggling (having a child that needs to be regulated with medication) from enduring more stress. She is the worst psychiatrist I've ever met, and I've met many. It has gotten to the point where my child will not even talk to her. Getting him to go to her office is exhausting and very hard. Believe me, it's her, not him. I don't even want to see her, but suck it up and try to have a good attitude to get him there. She is constantly late- without apologies. Literally an hour plus, maybe even two. If you get seen in 30 mins of your scheduled time, consider yourself lucky. My child has had days without medication… because of her lack of follow through, not getting scripts sent where she said they would etc. This is not like not taking a simple vitamin. Without his medication he is defiant, sometimes violent and extremely disregulated. Point being- HE NEEDS IT. I have wasted many many hours in her waiting room, or have had to drive far to pick up scripts at her office because she refused to call it in (She lied and said because it was controlled she couldn't, yet, just last month she did) The office staff at VNA lies to cover for her. They will tell you she's with the patient right in front of you, even though she may not even be at the office yet. She is rude and impatient, but in a very passive aggressive way. She'll smile and then say something demeaning at the same time. One time, after waiting a very long time for her, our name was called. I was gathering our items from the chairs, including a newborn baby and her carseat. She kept saying, 'come on, come on'. Didn't offer to help carry anything and then followed it up with a comment to my son, "Your mom likes to watch tv" implying I was just sitting in the waiting room watching the show instead of walking into her office. On two separate occasions, she randomly lectured about screen time. I am very aware of the impact screen time can have, which is why in my home it is very limited. We only have DVDs to watch on special nights, no converter set up, and no cable. I have been proactive about this. But she doesn't ask, just assumes I let my kid watch hours and hours of tv bc I let him look at my phone while waiting in the waiting room. My son asked me later why she was talking about screen time. She doesn't listen, constantly interrupts, and does not try to understand the situation/child/ parent etc. I don't know what she does on her computer, but she can't seem to get off it long enough to have a real conversation with us. The appointments are about 3 mins in length. We have gotten no emotional or practical support (because she's clueless what really goes on day to day) from her in any way, other than medication. Every 6 months or so, there is a snafu and even getting that is up in the air. VNA really needs to do something. I am not the only one that feels this way. I keep telling myself they only keep her because they're non for profit. I know there is a shortage of child psychiatrists, but she is one that might be doing more harm than good.

I have been seeing her for a year now.. great physician who does the right thing for you. thank you doc!

Amazing and caring physician. She really wants to do a holistic fix not just load you up with medicines. She takes time to understand your situation. I guess all the negative comments are because of the hospital setup and not the individual doctor.

She is cold, abrupt, and interrupts you in the middle of a conversation every time you speak with her. She looks at her computer the whole time and does not seem to care one bit about her patients.

This doctor NEVER gets back to you when you change medications and have insurance issues, you have to call VNA and leave messages ongoing 3-5 days to have a prescription finally refilled, I only talk to the nurse. It is very frustrating and time consuming and I worry every time because I am without medications for days on end!

If I could give a negative amount of stars I would. She lacks concern for the wellbeing of patients, does not provide the full time allotted to psychiatric patients and above all has neglected to refill my husbands prescription for two weeks. He is bipolar and CANNOT be without his medication and she couldn't care less. At the time I am writing this, he has missed two doses of his medication, I have contacted her supervisor and I am in the process of filing a complaint to the medical board.

It took 3 days for her to refill a script. I told her I can not afford to go all the way to aurora it’s an hour away from me plus take a day off I’m dealing with a sick dad who can not be left alone not to mention how long you wait to even see her. No bed side manners. Treats you like crap. It’s really sad because we don’t have decent insurance we get treated like crap and get talked down to. I myself have a degree in elementary education and going back to school because I’m in school and only subbing I’m stuck with drs like this. Not fair. It’s funny sitting in the waiting room and hearing the same thing about her from many people.

Does not listen to you and is not caring at all. If you have an appointment for 9 a.m. expect to been seen at 11 a.m.
