Dr. Tara Mine Akashi, MD

Never did much of anything to help when I had medical problems. Very reluctant to order tests or referrals, mostly just told me what statistics were for things. That’s fine for background info, but I’m me and want to know what’s happening in my body and my case, not just be told about the care approach for the general population.

In my 7 years of experience with Dr Akashi as my primary care physician, I never felt she invested much time in her patients or trying to find solutions for their whole health. If you want a very hands off doctor who’ll just give a thumbs up or thumbs down about whether something needs more treatment then leave you alone, this might be your speed. If you’re looking for a partner in your healthcare who will help you manage your overall health, understand options, and assist you with preventative care plans or tracking goals, look elsewhere.

I can't put my finger on it but I don't feel nurtured in her presence. I feel...judged, perhaps? She doesn't seem to see the whole me. Just the number on the scale. I'm pre-diabetic and it seems she's focusing completely on that.
