Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:I chose to pursue a career in medicine to enrich the lives of patients to lead healthier lifestyles. I initially graduated with a bachelor of science degree and a master of science degree in exercise physiology, where I learned how to help cardiac, pulmonary, and weight management patients by prescribing monitored exercise programs. I was so intrigued by the human body and wanted to learn more about medicine, so four years later, I received my RN degree. Six years later, I went on to earn my advanced degree as a nurse practitioner and have never regretted my decision to enhance my career.What I want my patients to know about me:I practice what I preach as far as taking my health very seriously by maintaining an active lifestyle and fueling my body with proper nutrition. I lead by example for my patients and my children. I've been a lifelong athlete and workout almost daily. I feel that it's important to challenge myself physically, whether …its from weight training or cardiovascular training. I believe that physical discipline can be advantageous in many aspects of life and can prevent diseases.What I do when I'm not seeing patients:When I'm not seeing patients I am spending time with my husband, 2 small children, and Siamese cat. I will also be lifting weights at the gym or traveling with my family.
