A Pennsylvania native, Dr. Tara L. Howell grew up in the Lancaster, PA area. She attended the University of Delaware where she received her undergraduate degree in Medical Technology and she attended University of Pittsburg where she received her degree of Dental Medical Doctor (DMD). 
Prior to establishing her dental practice (Carolina Dental) in the Charlotte, NC area Dr. Howell has completed hundreds of hours of courses in postgraduate dentistry.  She started her career in the U.S. Army where she completed her residency program and served 5 years as an active duty member.  Dr. Howell has over 10 years of experience as a cosmetic dentist and has extensive training in all areas of dentistry including, but not limited to Root Canal therapy, Crown and Bridge, Implants.  She is also a certified with INVISALIGN, Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation, Laser Dentistry and Lava Chairside Oral Scanner.
Dr. Howell is dedicated to the newest advancements in …dentistry and keeps up-to-date with all the latest technologies.  She is frequently among the first dentist to perfect and use the newer, more advanced techniques and equipment.  She has extensive training with hard and soft tissue lasers which enables her to offer needle free treatment.  She also was the first office in Charlotte to offer digital impressions for exact fit crown placement.  Her training and expertise also expands into digital imaging which allows for better diagnostics for accurate treatment.
Dr. Howell is a standing member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.  Locally, she is a member of Donated Dental Services of Charlotte, Vocational Rehabilitation Program and the Baptist Dental Bus which are volunteer services that service the indigent of Charlotte and surrounding communities as well as various other charities.
When Dr. Howell is not practicing dentistry she enjoys spending time with her family, participating in community events, and also is a season ticket holder with the Charlotte Bobcats. She also enjoys traveling, shopping and cycling.
