Dr. Tara Robbins, MD

Dr. Tara Robbins ordered cholesterol and glucose tests for my perfectly health, normal-weight 29-year-old daughter. This was during her free annual visit, which also includes free regular blood tests. When I first saw the charges, I assumed they had been miscoded, so went through a lot of phone calls with her health insurance and Scripps billing. When the charges were correctly coded, I found out these tests are only free if you're over a certain age, well beyond 29. I then called Dr. Robbins' office and, after checking with her, was told she orders cholesterol and glucose for patients before the ages where insurance would cover them. My question was why would she do this for a perfectly healthy 29-year-old with no indications of cholesterol or glucose issues? No one answered the question but they did state we should ask about the costs of tests before they're given. So, at a normal annual visit with no issues to discuss, where normal blood tests are expected, we should first go… over all those tests with billing before heading to the lab? We should expect that Dr. Robbins will order unnecessary tests and head her off before we have to pay?

Dr. Robbins is a kind doctor who is flexible in her approach. She walked with me through one of the most challenging times in my life with compassion and medical expertise. I like that she has a healthy skepticism of some pharmaceuticals.

I have been searching for a new primary physician since I finished graduate school at SIU. It has been a 5 year search. I finally found my doctor. Dr. Tara Robbins is excellent.

I like Dr. Robins. She is personable and knowledgeable. I prefer a blend of alternative and allopathic medicine and like it that she doesn't push me into drugs that I don't want to take. I'm responsible about my health and diet so I don't need a lot of "fixing".

I have seen her 4 or 5 times in the last year. Never was she rude. Could be because I am NOT RUDE EITHER! Wow - she is no stress, no hurry, and so far ...

I can say at 25 years old I am happy to have her as my doctor. She listens to everything even if I ask her the same question 5 different ways. She makes me feel at ease, and not as if I am at the doctors office. I hope she is there for the remainder of the time I am in SD.

I dont know why you wouldnt like her. She helped me with whiplash, and I am satisfied with her so much that I changed my HMO so that she is my main doctor now. I hardly had to wait at all for an appointment. I was in & out in no time. Its also easy to communicate with her via UCSD online comminications. Pretty cool.

I just moved to San Deigo a couple months ago and knew that it was important to find a new doctor when you move a new city. I went through my insurance website and found a family practitionar. I came across Tara Robbins, and thought I would give her a try. Well, that was the beginning of her unethical and misleading practice. When I called in, I told the receptionist that I needed to have a routine checkup.... little did I know that she was going to code my appointment as a General Illness instead of Routine Checkup. I was never informed of this. When I went in for my check up, Dr. Robbins was short, uncaring, and misleading. She recommended unnecessary tests and was not helpful. After I left, I felt like none of my questions were answered and little did I know that I would receive a $900.00 bill for just a routine checkup. I went in to her office to talk about this with her because I thought I would give her the opportunity to explain why she did what she did. She and her staff are… very rude. I have never been in an office where I was treated with such disrespect. If I were a doctor, I would try to develop relationships with my patients. Especially at her age -- you should be building for the future instead of being uncaring and deceitful. I will never go back to a doctor like her and would never recommend anyone to go her office.
