Smiley, MD, a native of Ohio, graduated from Whitmer High School in Toledo, received his Bachelor of Science from Ohio State University in 1989, and received his Medical Doctor degree from the Medical College of Ohio in 1994. He attended Wayne State University for his internship and surgical residency programs. After his general surgery training at one of the most intensive surgical programs in the nation, he completed three post-graduate fellowships; a Microsurgery Fellowship, a Hand & Microvascular Surgery Fellowship, and a Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship at the renowned RUSH Medical Center in Chicago.
