Dr. Taylor John Brueseke

Dr. Brueseke was polite enough at first but it quickly became apparent that he was writing off my postpartum problems as a psychiatric issue, as though I am some kind of hypochondriac; he callously told me that “women just look like that after they give birth.” He refused to examine my symptoms in a different position as I had requested, which my pelvic PTs and new gynecologist have since both agreed to do. Unlike Dr. Brueseke, they both acknowledged that I have some serious issues that need intervention. Furthermore, when I suggested an underlying cause for my pain and discomfort (a diagnosis which was confirmed a couple of weeks later by an expert in the field), Dr. Brueseke told me something along the lines of “humans are storytellers, and it seems like you’re looking to connect things to make sense of them.” This dismissiveness was in the presence of my husband; I can’t imagine having been in there alone with him. He left me crying in the exam room. If your problem is already… diagnosed, a cut and dry case, I’m sure Dr. Brueseke does good work. But this experience left me feeling disbelieved and dehumanized at one of the lowest points in my life. Be warned, new moms.

From the ease of getting the appointment to no wait time at all I was welcomed by the nurse Nancy Martinez and was off to a great start! Then as I shared my concerns, Dr. Brueseke and NP Alison Alix -listened to my fears and put me at ease. They explained every step in detail. They take the time and are very thorough.
