Dr. Taylor Olsen, a practicing orthodontist in Orange County, is a native to Southern California having grown up in the Los Angeles area. He attended UCLA for his undergraduate education and graduated Summa Cum Laude & with College Honors in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics. During his undergraduate education he took 2 years off to live in El Salvador, where he learned to speak fluent Spanish.
Dr. Olsen then attended the UCLA School of Dentistry where he also graduated with high honors. Instead of practicing general dentistry, Dr Olsen’s passion for orthodontics carried him to pursue further education and specialize in Orthodontics (braces). If you know someone who does general dentistry (fillings and crowns) and braces, then that person is a dentist who does braces but is not a specialist. …After dental school, Dr. Olsen spent an extra 2 ½ years studying only Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics at the prestigious University of Washington.
The University of Washington, where Dr. Olsen received his specialty training in Orthodontics, is one of the top 3 orthodontic programs in the country. In fact, many of the noted leaders in the Orthodontic community were trained at the University of Washington, including: the most recent past President of the American Association of Orthodontics; the most recent past Chairs of Orthodontics at UCLA & USC; the author of the most widely used Orthodontic Textbook in the world; and the current editor of the premier orthodontic journal, the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJODO), Dr. Vince Kokich. In fact, while at UW, Dr. Olsen earned his Master of Science Degree in Dentistry (MSD) while studying with Dr Kokich – arguably the most renowned orthodontist in the world. The results of Dr. Olsen’s study have even been published in the AJODO. Dr. Olsen is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists , the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists , the American Dental Association , the California Dental Association , the Orange County Dental Society , the Crown Council and various other orthodontic and dental societies.
Dr. Olsen, his wife, Brooke, and their 2 kids happily reside in South Orange County. In his spare time, Dr. Olsen enjoys surfing, scuba diving, hiking, playing basketball, and especially hanging out with his wife and kids.
