In this world, there are givers and takers. Red Bloch is most assuredly a taker. Ridiculously, uncommonly greedy!!

Don't miss an appointment. Huge fee, he won't budge on extenuating circumstances.

i agree to disagree with all comments above, He doesn't connect well with his patients and he does seem distant and non engaging. I had to take my daughter once to an appointment and she sat quietly on the floor and was going to play with one of the wooden toys in his office; he looked at her (she was 6) and said DONT TOUCH, ITS NOT FOR YOU. it angered me tremendously considering what harm was she doing other than behaving and allowing us to have our visit with no distractions. I almost never went back to him for that reason alone; my daughter was embarrassed and didn't understand bc it was a childs toy. I am a cash pay now and I disagree slightly with the money issue. he has let me pay partial payments, and has worked incredibly with me as far as finance goes. being a nurse, I have to say; all doctors are over priced when paying cash and they can charge whatever they want unlike insurances which he has to follow the medicare allowable on fees/charges to them (insurance)

I didn't intend to write a review of Dr. Bloch, but after reading those published, I feel I should. I thought perhaps my experience with him was unique, but now I know that isn't the case. I'll just state the facts briefly: I was his patient for 5+ years. He prescribed me at least 7 different drugs and never helped me at all until he suddenly told me he couldn't see me anymore because he no longer excepted my insurance. Then, I began being treated by my General Care Practitioner and my life has completely changed for the better. What a difference it makes to be treated by someone who gives a hoot about about your mental health not just your $.

I can't recommend Ted Bloch. Admittedly, the reasoning is subjective and probably for most not at all obvious in the beginning; Bloch's professional mien and style which abjures frittering the time away with extraneous psychotherapeutic musings is helpful and reassuring; some shrinks don't understand this. His knowledge of medicine is not questioned either. One of my problems - the real foci of evaluation when choosing a mental health practitioner - is that I strongly feel he doesn't really care about me as a patient, which is the very sine qua non of mental health therapy. I'll call it empathy lethargy, which Bloch excels at. Also, mental health care is about holistic treatment. Drugs ALONE is NOT how a patient is treated. Bloch did not recommend parallel complimentary treatment to make the process work - as he does NOT practice psychological therapy - save for a quick, oblique reference to cognitive therapy once. How do I know alternative therapy is warranted? Because I'm… seeing other types of practioners and their treatment has meant far more to me, bolstering and reinforcing opinions formed from gleaning health information for years. For physicians, everything is a pathology. I'm far from "insane", only now hooked on drugs which I'm dependent on him for. He never gave a timetable for weening off, never intimated it. Finally, I have been out of work for a while and had told him on many occasions that it wasn't economical to continue (psychiatrists make an enormous amount of money). Instead of trying to negotiate a reduced payment, even at least temporarily, for treatment (which I've had other professionals suggest), its either you have the money or you don't. 120 dollars for 15 minutes. This is equivalent to two days payment for many people working even above minimum wage, for 15 MINUTES of "work". If you have a job like this, you must try hard to care. It's imperative. Can mental health patients be flaky and frustrating sometimes? Absolutely. This comes with the job! Do they really think there shouldn't be downsides (responsibilities) with jobs that pay six-figures? Other things like negotiated payments for the struggling, offering phone numbers for middle of the night emergencies, and a genuine sense of empathy is the MINIMUM beyond the medicinal competencies. This should not be a money-raking racket but a place of healing. Dr. Ted Bloch did not offer this to me and I can safely assume to others.

I had written a bad review of Ted Bloch a long time ago and I want to change my review. I think ted is a good doctor, we just didn't click. I'm sue he has helped a lot of people, and he knows what he is doing. I was not completely open with Ted and had my own issues, which stressed our relations and trust. Sorry for my previous, negative review.

I am a CASH patient and he said his Consultation was $300. However, when he handed me the paperwork it said $200 and he crossed it put by hand with a pen and wrote $300. He then charged me an additional $400 before he set me up on the "medication" maintenance visit of $110 month. I needed a medication adjustment for anxiety and he prescribed me something that made me extremely sleepy, charged me $110 ( no problem ) BUT, he then had me come back 4 days later for my regular "maintenance" visit ( to get another $110?) not sure why he didn't combine visits since they were so close? I don't mind paying for medical care, but I felt he took advantage of me. I did not change doctors in the beginning, because I had already invest $700 in 3 weeks. Anyways, I also agree with the other reciews and don't feel he is a good listener, he seems a bit strange and I haven't figured him out yet. Since I actually have health insurance now, I will be changing doctors. I honestly shouldn't have waited.

I agree with the other's opinion. I have never worked with a more uncompassionate doctor. He does over charge and also does not fully listen to his patients. I am pretty sure he was asleep during one of my visits when I was answering a question he asked me. I found his practice to be racket and a way for him to keep making more and more money. I would highly not recommend this doctor.
