Not only did it take 4 months for an appointment,( maybe if he was in the office like all other physicians including all specialties ) . When I finally got there the greeting of the staff was extremely unprofessional . I felt as though I was an imposition. Not to mention the talking about patients that went on. Whether it was someone sitting in the waiting room or the roll of the eyes to the person on the other end of the phone. I couldn't believe it. I'd like to say it was just a one time occurance, but sure enough the next time I was there it was the same thing. As far as Dr. Stampien goes I felt very uncomfortable as though I was being talked down to all the time and not courteous at all. If he was able to help me with my problem then I might say I could put up with the unfavorable conditions, but that was not the case. Needless to say, the second appointment was my last. The fact that you can never get a hold of him and doesn't have an answering service pretty much says how… he feels about his patients well being. And by the way, I am not the only one that has this opinion, I know of at least 4 other patients that only saw him once and refused to return. I am being so straight forward because I don't want anyone else to wait months for an appointment only to be treated unprofessionally and feel so bad after leaving on top of whatever they are going through medically.

I found Dr Stampien to be very pleasant, down to earth, and not pushy. However, he may not be pro-active enough. I had some spots of concern, mostly on my face and nose. I had a few office visits, and he indicated the spot on my nose warranted watching and commented I should come back in 6 months for a re-check. Because the spot was unsightly and on my nose, I asked if he could remove it immediately. He was happy too and sent it out for usual biopsy. Well, the biopsy came back as Stage 1 Melanoma, so I am very glad I did not wait 6 months as he had indicated. I am very disappointed and assume I should find a different dermatologist.

I think Dr. Stampien has just too many patients and not enough time. It takes months to get an appointment and if you need a specific time it could take longer. I would often wait in the waiting area for 45 mins then 15-20 in an exam room. I do think he is a good doctor, although he will present you with one option and will keep pushing you toward it, ignoring what you really want. If you want a doctor who is polite and quickly throws you into pills or creams at you he is your man, if you want one who will spend a few minutes with you, talk about what you want, and the different options available, find a new dermatologist.

I saw Dr. Stampien for a few years while he was still practicing in New Jersey. I found him to be one of the most competent, sincere, humble, patient, kindest doctors I've ever seen. I was very sad to see him go but I see he has done well for himself in Pennsylvania. I wish him the best of luck!! He is a WONDERFUL Doctor and I HIGHLY recommend him!
