Dr. Tena Patricia Patterson, MD

Dr. Patterson was not nice on most of my visits. It seems like she was always in a bad mood. She really needs to get her moods under control. I was a patient of hers until her bad moods and unconcern continued over the course of visits. She didn't take the time to diagnos me correctly. She would just guess and say you have this when it was not correct. I left her and found another Dr. in the Baylor network. This is your warning. She was nice in the beginning, but after years it seemed like she didn't want to be bother

Dr. Patterson had a major attitude with my mother depending on the day. From one visit to the next her bedside manner would flip flop. At some visits she would be what seemed to be caring and sweet . At other visits she would be very condescending and make my mother almost afraid to tell her how she was feeling. My mother has a dead thyroid, diverticulitis, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, and several auto immune diseases. Whenever my mother was in pain, had a flair up, or was sick and would go to see Dr. Patterson, Dr Patterson would at times tell my mother she needs to come in and see her as soon as shes having symptoms to be treated . When my mother would do what the dr. Told her and go in Dr. Patterson would get nasty with her because she came to see her . She would literally say "What are you coming to me for?!" She told her not to come to her for the very condition she said to come to see her right away . I would also like to point out that my mother was only aware that… she had the thyroid issues and diverticulitis when she was going to Dr. Patterson , though she was having several symptoms, was in constant pain, unable to walk, and was trying to get answers. Dr. Patterson claimed her pain was fibromyalgia and that fibromyalgia isn't a real thing and all in her head. Well once we moved and my mother switched drs and actually found someone that cared enough to do the testing she needed they found out she has Multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, and several auto immune diseases. They werent that hard to pick, it required an MRI of the brain , blood work and a spinal tap which Dr. Patterson should have ordered or at the very least refered her to a Dr. Who could , but instead of doing that just told my mother it was all in her head. Avoid this dr at all cost. I'm disgusted that my mother went years without treatment, had to suffer, and her illnesses progressed more than they would have since she was going without treatment all because dr patterson misdiagnosed her with fibromyalgia without evidence and didn't do the necessary testing or referrals to doctors that would the do the necessary testing required to give her a proper diagnosis. After moving and changing to a different family Practitioner they sent my mother for an MRI of the brain on the very first visit. Thats all it took to get the ball rolling to get the correct diagnosis !! Dr. Patterson allows her own arrogance to get in the way of listening to what the patient is telling her and proceeding with the correct treatment! Shame on you Dr. Patterson.

First visit, and everyone in the office had a great attitude! Dr. Patterson was patient and very informative. The young lady in the lab did a great job. Thanks guys.

I liked the visit with Dr. Patterson she was very concerned about my health.

she LISTENS, and can remember things, GREAT bedside manner, she makes me feel comfortable during examination. She fixes the problems

Office staff is getting worse everytime I go back, which will not be much more. Dr Patterson acts like she doen't want to listen to anything I have extra to say, and always acts like she's in a hurry. She wont take an extra min and listen. I have to talk to her in the hall while walking out.

Dr. Patterson rushes in and out. She interrupts me when I am trying to talk to her and has already decided on a diagnosis before I can finish what I have to say. She has terrible bedside manner. I take blood pressure medicine and called to make an appointment to get it refilled when I had one week of medicine left. Her office staff told me that she only had "sick patient" appointments left and it would be almost 4 weeks before I could get scheduled. She would not call in a one month refill until I could see her. She would not give me enough samples to make it until she could see me. I was told that I would just have to wait and not have my medicine in the meantime. I told them I wold find a different Doctor. I found someone else and got in within a couple of days. He got my medicine switched to a different one because apparently the cough that I had been complaining to Dr. PATRERSON about for months was a side effect of the Lisinopril and she never offered me that… information. I am very happy I made the switch!

My three words to describe this doctor rather than caring, compassionate and courteous would be arrogant, abrasive and condescending. Her attitude towards me as a patient is the very reason I had not seen a doctor in years and why I may NEVER visit another doctor, barring an immediate and certain threat to my life.

Dr Patterson is a wonderful family Dr who is very committed to her patients. She listens and works hard to find a diagnosis for every problem. She does not overprescribe medicines. Her bedside manner may seem a little harsh at times but her intentions are good.
