Cardiology Physician Assistant Tera Wiesman has always been motivated by putting others first making a career in medicine an easy choice.​​
“Medicine is a career driven by service and putting others first," she said. “It also allows you to be a life-long learner and to continually expand your expertise."
As a physician assistant in cardiology, Tera helps manage patients with coronary artery disease, valvular disorders, arrhythmias and heart failure.
“My passion lies in problem-solving some of the most complex cardiac cases to improve quality of life in my patients," Tera said.
A medical scare in her family prompted her journey into cardiology. “My father had a heart attack when I was a freshman in college," she said. “After my father's experience, I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to help other patients and their families in a similar situation."
Staying close to the area she grew up in was important when choosing her professional path.
“When …considering going back to school, it was important to me to work in rural health care and in the community where I was born and raised," she said.
Tera earned a master's degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She completed a bachelor's degree in health care management from Rasmussen College.
In her free time, Tera enjoys running, camping, traveling, and spending time with friends and family, which includes her husband and son.
