Dr. Terrell J Mulford, DO

I moved to Lake of the Ozarks 6 years ago and have yet to find a physician who really understands my needs or takes great care of me like Dr. Mulford did. I saw a review on here that was not favorable and I had to respond. Other than realizing I possibly had thyroid issues and recommending I see a specialist, Dr. Mulford did not treat me for it nor would he. He did what is right and sent me to an Endocrinologist and my care for my thyroid was handled there. He was NEVER rude nor was his staff. He has been the only doctor that when I called his nurse about breathing or coughing issues, he would call me back and be aggressive with my care. You see...he knew I had asthma and that bronchitis was always an issue. I didn't have to come in and see him. He would send me meds and in10 days had it not gotten better, he wanted to see me. I always got better...BECAUSE..he knew me and made it a point to be personable and knowledgeable about all of his patients. Selfishly, I hated it when… he gave up his practice to become and ER doctor. I certainly understood his reasons why.

I was a patient of Dr. Mulford for about 10 years. I had struggled with my weight for some time and went in for a visit to ask if we could have my thyroid checked because diet and exercise weren't working. He said no--there's nothing wrong with your thyroid. Then he patted me on the leg and said, "You know you are eating all those snacks when no one is looking." I was horrified. The only reason I remained a patient for so many years was because I usually saw his medical assistants and they were generally kind and compassionate. But the final straw for me was when I went in for a sick visit and he got angry with me and said I was wasting his time. He sneered at me and almost shouted, "There is nothing wrong with you!" Then he called me at home the next day to "check on me" and was inconsolably rude because I had fled the office after my visit the day before without getting blood work done. I left because I was crying! This was about 12 years ago. I can't believe he is still practicing… medicine.

Are you still live in Missouri my husband and I both went to him you missed my diabeetus for many years I ended up in the hospital in what the nurses called a semi-coma I remember nothing of the five days three in the hospital in days after I got home. He never even bother apologizing and if that isn't bad enough you turn around them it's my husband's too. He told me to have my husband fast and take his sugar in the morning I asked him why did he have a medical license and was he going to pay me to do his job. So I took my husband's sugar in the morning and it was through the roof and he told my husband well I guess she's right you are a diabetic didn't offer him any kind of educational information or anything not even a glucometer. My late husband work at st. John's and the nurses told him that apparently my doctor never kept up on his education about diabeetus because right on the American Diabetes Association website it said you must fast a full 12 hours not one time did Dr Mulford… ever have me fast 12 hours and that's how he missed my diabeetus as a result I have a lot of what I called trickle-down problems it affected my eyesight it affected my hair because it became dry and brittle this man should have his medical license revoked

Terrible doctor. Rude and very nonchalant. Does not show interest in patients.

Dr. Muford was very condescending and when I began explaining my symptoms to him he began correcting my grammar and choice of words. He was very unprofessional. I wanted him to provide insight on the pain I was experiencing but instead he insisted on insulting my intelligence. It was awful. I asked to see another doctor and then he apologized. I accepted his apology but I will never visit Dr. Muford again.

I have been a patient of Dr. Mulford for several years. I have never had a bad experience with him or his staff. They honestly do care about you as not only a patient but as a person. I started as a patient of his fathers, Many of my family members and several friends are patients now. I appriciate both Dr. Mulford and his staff.

I'm new in Missouri and visited Mulford because I need a primary to address my very serious chronic pain issues. Mulford became immediatly suspicious when I explained what medicine I am taking. He even made the very unscientific statment that someone who is thirty-seven years old should not need to take pain medicine. Ridiculous! Not only is a person's age not relative to pain relief needs, but pain itself is highly subjective. These things are not so easily quantifiable, that's why there are pain medicine contracts between patient and provider that assure a paitient is not misusing the medicine. He began cutting me off and not allowing me fair time to explain myself in full, his tone became overly authoritarian. He never even got to know me or all my issues. He told me he would need to call my previous doctor to confirm that I was a legitimate patient. I understaningly agreed to this although I had brought with me plenty of information to show cause for trust. He had lied to me. It… was not merely a phone call on his part, he wanted to wait until my complete records arrived by mail before prescribing the medicine I need. I called my old doctor and had my record faxed to Mulford. I felt Mulford was blowing me off, and meanwhile I was agonizing in pain that transforms every aspect of life. Mulford himself finally called over a week later and left me a message. I returned his call and left him a message that I would not be able to get to the phone because I must work and asked him to return my call and leave me a detailed message. He never returned my call. I became fed up and asked my wife to call during office hours and request that my records be prepared so I can collect them in person. My wife was so insulted by Mulford, his tone was arrogant and condesending as usual, and he attempted to bait her into saying that I didn't even want to hear what he had to say. My wife and I are both decent people of integrity and dignity, and we were nothing short of polite and respectful toward Mulford and his friendly staff. We are both mortified by Mulford's debasing and condesending tone of language. I would highly suggest that anyone that is concerned that they may be in pain at sometime in their life, or are now having pain issues that require medical attention to stay away from this person. I was treated like a criminal, which is pretty dishonoring for a U.S. Infantry veteran that is not yet recieving medical attention from the VA. There is a point when a physicians lack of action becomes tantamount to a lack of compassion, and a point when failure to listen and act becomes a neglect that is actually harmful to a patient. There is a oath doctors take, I'm not sure what all it entails as medicine is something I only have military life saving practice and my own personal experience with, but I believe there is something in the oath about causing no harm.

Dr. Mulford has been my family doctor for years now, and now that I'm out of state I find myself always comparing other medical personnel to him. He is knowledgeable and thorough, and utilizes a refreshingly holistic approach, while being very understanding and open to his patient's concerns. His staff is also among the best I've encountered.
