When my regular dentist told me I needed a molar extracted by a dental surgeon, he said, "I'd like to send you to Dr. Allemang. He's the best, and he has a terrific bedside manner. And he's funny, which helps lighten the mood."Well, my appointment was this morning and my dentist was absolutely right. Dr. Allemang is so personable and reassuring while at the same time you can tell that he knows exactly what he's doing. He joked with me and his one-liners were funny, which helps a lot when you're really nervous, as I was.I had opted for local anesthesia (novocaine, I guess) rather than IV sedation, but I also asked for some nitrous oxide, which put me in a pleasant, relaxed sort of haze during the whole procedure.The only negative about my experience was the wait -- nearly an hour. Maybe they had an emergency come in ahead of me, I don't know. But Dr. Allemang made up for it by apologizing for the wait, whereas most doctors don't even mention it. He really seemed to care that I had been… inconvenienced, and I appreciated that. I think part of the wait is that Dr. Allemang takes time with his patients, to talk with them and make sure they're comfortable.AND....he called me at home that evening to make sure I was doing okay. I wish all medical practitioners were like Dr. Allemang. He is just the best.
