Dr. Terry Elizabeth Brennan, MD

My primary care Dr. recommended I get in with dermatology (the Dr. he recommended didn't take my insurance so I made an appointment with Dr. Brennan). My primary had given me a few prescriptions to try until I could get in. Before Dr. Brennan even entered the exam room, she had decided not to treat me. She told me that I "oily skin = acne" without even looking at my skin. I explained that I have severely dry skin and she said, well same thing. I've never had acne issues in my life, so something has obviously changed. She did no physical exam, no skin check, and didn't even look at the skin care products and prescriptions I brought with me. Her big advice was to wash with soap and water (which I already do) and when I have a bad acne day to sit in the sun. First of all, I'm on a medication (which she knew about) that prohibits sun exposure. Second of all, I'm glow in the dark white (a red head) and sun and she said no sunscreen. Finally, and most importantly, sun exposure… doesn't help acne. Additionally, when I told her I was self conscious about the acne, she told me to wear make up. Beyond the fact that was rude and unhelpful, make up can clog pores and make acne worse and several doctors recommended I stay away from it. Overall, it was a complete waste of time and money and I now have to see another dermatologist, and wait to get seen thanks to Dr. Brennan wasting my time.

My visit with Dr. Brennan went very well. She is the most thorough doctor I have seen. She spends enough time with to answer questions and help you understand the issues. All doctors should have this type of bedside manner
