Dr. Terry Mark Himes, DO

I love Dr. Himes, he’s always went above and beyond in helping me and my family and would consider him a not only a doctor but a friend because of his dedication in my health

Picked up meds from local pharmacy and took them for himself

He is a great man

I went to see Doctor Himes for insomnia. We covered a few questions early on about sleep and basic health, which I was fine with, but he seemed fixated on my desire to not be in a romantic or sexual relationship. After he had taken my pulse and listened to my heart, he sat on a chair opposite of the examination table I was sitting on and tried to figure out why I wasn't interested in dating. He spent at least ten to twenty minutes asking questions such as whether it's because I'm worried about being hurt, or if it's because of my relationship with my father, questions I felt were much too invasive and not to do with sleep. Even after I said that I identify as asexual, he kept on trying to figure out why I'm uninterested in dating and sex. He then asked how I am doing in therapy, which I told him I was doing well in, and when he asked if I had reached a plateau with my current therapist, I told him no. That didn't stop him from recommending a good friend of his, though, and he… recommended his psychologist friend at least twice more before the meeting was over. He also asked what my therapist and I talk about, and I was to flabbergasted by the forwardness of the question to tell him that it wasn't his business, so I told him that I have issues with my father. He asked me what was going on, which I figured was a normal enough question to gauge anxiety level, but then went on to ask what my last contact with him was about -- had I told him not to contact me again, what the issues were, and other questions I felt were a bit too personal for my first time meeting a doctor, especially one whose specialty was sleep rather than psychology. There is a correlation between mental health and sleep, I know, but he was going much too far. When I told him that I had a cat, he asked if I prefer animals to humans, and I said that my age group hasn't matured to the level I like, so at the moment, yes. He recommended a meet-up group for animal lovers, which is run by the same psychologist that he had been recommending to me. He said that she and I would get along well, and this would give me a chance to meet her and see if we would be compatible. He then went on to tell me the positive side effects of hallucinogenic drugs.I was really insulted when I left. I felt as though he was treating my sexuality as something wrong with me, and wouldn't let the subject drop, coming back to it at all times throughout the session. I was even more insulted, though, that he kept on suggesting that I leave my current therapist and see a friend of his who works in the same field. Completely unprofessional and inappropriate. Also, there was a coffee machine in the waiting room, but no coffee. When my ride asked the receptionist about whether there was coffee nearby, she said that no one had bothered to make coffee that day, and that no where in the building sold coffee. My ride waited over an hour and a half for me, and it would have been professional if the receptionist would have made the coffee or at least told my ride where the coffee things were so she could make it herself. This was a place for people who had sleep troubles; chances are my ride wasn't the only person who could have needed a cup.

My overall exrerience with Dr.Terry Mark Himes has been excellent. I like Dr. Himes very much he truly cares that is clear to see I would Highly Reccomend Dr.Himes to anyone who is need of this kind of medical care. Dr.Himes has always taking his time with me and I feel that I get the most out each appointment that I have had with him. Dr.Himes has a wonderful bedside manner and has always treated with upmost respect.
