About Terry Lowitz, DDS
Dr. Terry Lowitz has been practicing dentistry in the Cincinnati area for over 30 years now. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati, and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1979 from The Ohio State University School of Dentistry. Dr. Lowitz is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Ohio Sleep Society, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Ohio Dental Association, Cincinnati Dental Society, and the Flying Dental Association. Besides practicing full time, Dr. Lowitz teaches at The University of Cincinnati Dental Residency Program. He and his daughter Amy, a physics major at Brown University, enjoy many hobbies together, including SCUBA diving and flying. Dr. Lowitz is an accomplished pilot and teaches recreational and technical scuba diving in the Cincinnati area.
Special Interest in Sleep Apnea and Oral Appliances
Dr. Lowitz has a special interest in sleep apnea, as …he has sleep apnea himself, and wears an oral appliance for sleep apnea every night. Dr. Lowitz has one of the few dental practices that has a certified respiratory therapist with over 20 years of sleep medicine expeience on staff. Dr. Lowitz attends well over 50 hours of continuing education in sleep apnea each year, and is working toward his Diplomat status in the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Technology
Our office uses the latest in technological devices to monitor your progress through oral appliance therapy. We use the Watch-PAT 200 system to monitor your progress with the appliance. We ensure that your appliance is adjusted properly before you return to your sleep physician for a follow-up and final evaluation. Any x-rays taken are done using digital technology to both reduce the patient's exposure to radiation, and provide instant, higher-quality images.
