Dr. Terry Joseph Luma, MD

I and my wife were treated by Dr. LUMA AT SANFORD Bemidji mn. We are both in our 70ties. He was very disrespectful. Talked down to us and arrogant. I should have went to his supervisor, but we found another Dr. He is not a nice person!!!

My small family is very fortunate to have found Dr Luma. He's very supportive and we really appreciate that his first reaction is usually not to write prescriptions but to figure out the root cause of any issues and try to resolve them naturally before giving medicine.

Completely ignored my past history and changed my medication without my approval which I had been taking for years and which thoroughly helped my health issue . Can only surmise it was newer more expensive one which he’ll get more compensation from drug company. Didn’t even bother to check my heart and breathing even though my condition was high blood pressure . Told me he didn’t care if I died from colon cancer because I refused to get a colonoscopy ! Was with him for maybe 10 minutes when he told me my time was up ! Never in my life had I had a dr tell me that . Had other questions for him . He turned around and left ! Acted like a young spoiled brat ! If this is what our newest generation of doctors are like. , we are in trouble !

Dr. Luma seems to be a decent and thorough doctor. However, the fact that he isl eaving Sanford and has not yet told his patients shows his real character.

Dr. Luma is an awesome doctor! It seems like he knows everything, and can provide scientific information to back any of his suggestions, but he also knows when to refer to specialists, citing the need to specialists outside of his expertise. Dr. Luma loves kids and is always available for any concerns. He was so wonderful to have for my newborn. Once I brought him in for a lactation consultation and he peeked his head in to give a quick double check. He is thorough and takes as long as he needs, he treats patients (not conditions), he is kind and caring, HE LISTENS. I am so fortunate to have found him. I have referred all my family to him as well, and everyone just loves him. He diagnosed my brother in a single visit after years of misdiagnoses!

Terry Luma has been very rude to my elderly mother when she tries to ask him questions about her medical conditions, he says to her “don’t you believe me”. No patience. This has happened on multiple occasions with him.

Dr Luma was the Doctor in charge when I was admitted to the hospital with a badly infected Tick Bite. Dr Luma was excellent. He was caring and conderned. He listened to what I and my family had to say and always was kind and respectful. The infection was difficult to pin point but he treated it and found an antibiotic that worked. I was hospitalized for four days. I would highly recommend him.

Not happy with how he has been treating my mother. He has been very short with her and she reports that he will ask her if she is listening. In a hurry, in and out. Not a good fit for her. She is uncomfortable with him. Trying to convince her to switch to a different doctor.
