Tess Aven, DNP, APRN, CNM

Tess Aven, DNP, APRN, CNM, is a board-certified nurse midwife and doctorally prepared advanced practice nurse with over a decade of experience in women’s health and has participated in various local and international outreach projects, such as One Way Ministries. She is deeply passionate about providing quality, evidence-based care that empowers women through every stage of life. Her extensive clinical background encompasses the full scope of midwifery, including first assisting in surgery, managing low- to high-risk obstetrics, and addressing a wide range of gynecological needs from routine wellness visits to complex conditions. Tess was called to midwifery because of her belief that every woman deserves compassionate care tailored to their unique needs and desires. Throughout her career, Tess has contributed to the development of innovative programs that improve maternal and fetal outcomes. She was a founding team member of the Cincinnati Fetal Care Center and helped launch …perinatal services at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami. She also implemented a human trafficking response protocol at the Citrus Pregnancy Center in Inverness, Florida, expanding trauma-informed care in a medically underserved area. Tess is known for her collaborative approach, her commitment to lifelong learning, and her heart for serving diverse populations. She brings a holistic approach to care recognizing the physical, emotional, and social aspects of health. Whether in the clinic, the hospital, or the community, she strives to ensure every woman she cares for feels heard, respected, and supported.
She finds deep joy in walking alongside her patients and empowering them in their healthcare journeys. She has witnessed firsthand how access to proper resources can profoundly impact mothers, babies, and entire communities.
In her free time, Tess enjoys spending time with her family, rejuvenating in nature, cooking and participating at her local church. She is a lifelong learner, always seeking opportunities to grow.
