Dr. Tevis Hatch Gearan, MD

I've seen her for a couple of years just for annual appointments and haven't been very happy but then when I had something more serious arise, decided to switch doctors. She was not compassionate, doesn't listen, and I felt completely unrespected.

I began my healthcare relationship with Dr. Gearan in 2006. I had just changed physicians and moved to Internal Medicine. The doctor I saw a few times left the practice. I was introduced to Dr. Gearan. She saw me at a time when I was very sick with a condition that affects muscle and skin (a rash like shingles). She drew up a medical plan for me and sent me to specialists who helped me recover. I also have a chronic condition that complicated any additional issues I may have had. We worked together to discover ways to stabilize my issues. She researched and still does research issues I continue to deal with. She has made a point of tracking my medical history and ask me how I am feeling. She suggests alternatives to medication for me when a change is needed. She gives me the leeway to ask questions and seek answers and options with her guidance. She is professional and is focused during our appointments together; she does give me extra time when it is needed, although we… never cut into other patient time. I have had Dr. Gearan as my PCP for 12 years - we continue to build a crucial medical relationship that works.

Dr. Gearan is very pleasant but not present during my appointments. I feel like I am being processed rather than truly seen as a person. She never actually treats my symptoms, just taps what I say into her computer, collects her fee and then refers me to another doctor who actually solves the problem. Waste of time and money. Primary Care Physicians should actually provide expertise and treatment, not just serve as an expensive middle man.

Dr. Gearan has been my primary care physician for about 3 years and I highly recommend her. She has always given me an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. She is easy to talk to and very knowledgeable.

Chaotic office practice. Hard to get a referral. Treats symptoms and doesn't try to get to root cause.

I have made 5 calls to Dr Tevis Gearan's office and am still waiting for a response. I had one call back from staff, and when I followed up, left my name, and asked her to call me again--no response. It's been 5 days. Phone accessibility is poor. Average wait time is 10-15 minutes and then usually I give up and leave a message. She needs to hire more help.Staff seems exceptionally stressed. She seems stressed and overwhelmed.

Dr. Tevis Gearan has always spent a generous amount of time with me during my visits and that's probably the reason why she's always running late. Most of the time her bedside manner was great. And only once did she miss something important: I complained that my period was starting up to a week or two EARLY and ending before I even got to the end of my birth control pack. She said this was pretty normal and may be caused by stress. Being paranoid, I never had sex without a condom. Regardless, I got pregnant. I called her and she was completely unaware of medication abortion and told me it didn't exist. I never blamed her, but there was definitely a lot of anger directed toward her. Really, what are the chances of getting pregnant on the pill (without missing) and using a condom every time? I eventually ended up on a much stronger birth control pill. I still see and trust Dr. Gearan, but not with women's health issues. I got to a doctor that specializes in women's health for that.

Excellent physician .... highly recommended!

All my visits (pt for about 2 years) with Dr. Gearan have been positive; however, I usually have to wait quite a while at the office for my "scheduled" appointment time each time I have gone.
