Dr. Thahir Farzan, MD

When my appointment was made Dr Farzan’s office said my insurance was in network and everything was good to go. The day of my appointment it was 15 minutes away from check in and I get a phone call stating that my insurance wasn’t accepted and out of network. Remind you that I live 2 hours away. So I went ahead and went into the office and questioned why I wasn’t called prior to the appointment to let me know about the insurance. I was then told by his office staff that it wasn’t their job to call the insurance company that it was my job. I proceeded to explain that I have been treated with 4 different cancers in 22 years and that I have never had to deal with the insurance companies. Dr. Farzan came up and introduced himself and said that it isn’t his job or his staff job to call the insurance companies and then proceeded to tell me that he will make sure that will never get seen by anyone at the hospital or other doctors in Amarillo. This man is so disrespectful and has no manners!

When I found out that my biopsy had to be sent to CA because the lab in Amarillo didn't know what it was, that made me very nervous. An appointment was made with Dr. Farzan. He knew exactly what I had and knew what I needed. Surgery was scheduled, a port put in, a little recovery time, then 18 weeks of chemo. You'd think that going to a place where everyone had cancer would be depressing, but it wasn't. Of course, I was nervous my first time there, but Dr. Farzan and his office staff were wonderful. He explained everything he was doing and I could ask as many questions as I wanted. He patiently answered them all. The other patients around me were happy and pleasant. We all felt we were all his favorite patients. His gentle personality made us feel very comfortable and we trusted his decisions. Because of his knowledge of my cancer, which was rare and aggressive, I was able to walk away cancer free. I'm truly grateful that Dr. Farzan was here to treat me. I would certainly recommend… him to anyone needing an oncologist.

Dr. Farzan is an very skilled physician. He is an excellent doc and saved my mother's life. He cares about his patients and will do all he can for them. He went above and beyond to do what he could for my mother. Highly recommended!!!

Dr. Farzan is a very caring and skilled Dr. He goes above and beyond for his patients, and I would recommend him to anyone. I feel very confident in his care. He is wonderful.

I was sent to Dr Farzan from a gynecologist in Midland, TX, because she said I needed a gynecological oncologist. I went to his office in Lubbock. He said I needed a hysterectomy, and that the surgery would be in Amarillo. That is about a 3 hour drive for us. We decided to make the drive, because I knew he must be an excellent Dr. since he did a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. I had the surgery at BSA (Baptist St. Anthony). My husband and I both felt that our experience there was so excellent and the staff was superb! We would drive there again, if I should ever need him to do another surgery!

Dr. Farzan was great at explaining procedures plus their underlying rationale. He and his staff were very caring & compassionate & especially sensitive to my sister (the patient) who, due to a severe stroke, had significant language & motor deficits. We never got the feeling that we were being rushed. Staff were especially helpful when we had to switch appointments. Dr. Farzan & his staff really cared about my sister's comfort level during exams but were also careful to be thorough so that a correct diagnosis & treatment plan could result. We would highly recommend!

Dr. Farzan is a brilliant, hard-working, kind doctor with excellent bedside manner and more energy and devotion to his work than any doctor I've ever seen. He performed a difficult surgery to remove a 30 cm mass from my ovary, discovered it was cancerous and had to do a full hysterectomy and appendectomy as well. As I was healing, he scolded me quite forcefully for not doing the things he had ordered me to do to heal properly, and it was in that moment I realized that he genuinely cared about my recovery. He isn't just your doctor, he serves as your strongest advocate for recovery and good health. His staff are all incredibly sweet and attentive, and I've never had any trouble getting anything I need from them. Sometimes they get very busy, though, and that's understandable, considering how many patients Dr. Farzan has and handles all on his own.

Outstanding. Wife would be dead if was not for his skill and work ethic. Saw him on a thur on mon wife was in surgery for stage 3C Ovarian cancer. I have the highest respect for him and would recommend him to any one.

I was to receive a call the next morning for my scheduled surgery date and I didn't receive the call. I called late the next morning and received an answering machine! I left a message. At this point I am still waiting to hear back.
