Dr. Theodore Chow, MD

Dr Chow is a very experienced, conscientious, honest Dr. who performed what seemed to be a successful atrial flutter ablation procedure on me Nov 14, 2018. Unfortunately, the arrythmia and ultra fast heart beat came back so I am seeing him again on a regular basis for medication management and consultations. I trust Dr Chow much more than any of the ER or hospital Dr's I had at SJ Regional Medical Center where I was on Oct 8, 2018 and Nov 13-15, 2018. Often they gave the wrong advice. For example, on Oct 8th after 4 hours in the ER, the Dr there suggested overnight hospitlization and a cardioversion (electric shock to the heart) that might have caused a stroke as I was not on blood thinners at that time. Fortunately, Dr Chow came in the room (1st time I met him) and said no cardioversion and even if you had it, likely would only be temporary treatment at best. The only caveat about Dr Chow is that he makes it very clear he only practices medicine in face to face appointments… with patients- no email or phone consultations and no electronic sending of heart rate/arrythmia monitors. He tells patience up front about this appointment only policy but it creates a dilemma if you are between appointments and have an issue to discuss with him. The ER is the recommended venue, but from my experience that is counter productive as the RMC-SJ ER is a mad house!

Dr. Chow always forgets what he had told me...For example, he told me to do some sleep test and never followed up and never mentioned on the next appointment. It was very disappointing.

I saw Dr. Chow in 2009. He marketed very well by his practicing hospital and office. His office staff was very caring and compassionate, he had a male nurse in his office who was helped me get a quick appointment and was knowledgeable and provided excellent care, explanations of treatment, etc.When I went for my visit, I was treated exceptionally well by his receptionist (a very young lady with long hair) and his nurse, however, I waited over an hour for him to come in to see me, (and I think I was the only patient in the office), I was given the impression he was just late for work and when he arrived he was short with me and I did not feel welcome in his office.
