Dr. Theodore Steven Roosevelt, MD

This practice was run by a wonderful PA for the better part of a decade. This doctor would not compensate her fairly and ran her out of town. He then belittled all the patients she had supported, had zero bedside manner, won't listen to patients well being and is arrogant. Run away from this practice.

Rude and grumpy man. Snatched phone out of my hand two seconds after walking into exam. room. I was in the process of setting it down. Rude answers at times. Did not disclose pertinent information or options related to my medical issues. Spent very little time with me during appointments, just try to get you in and out as quickly as possible. Staff is kind, but made mistakes. Don't know if mistakes were on purpose or accidental. Several delays from mistakes made after I informed them I was going to get a second opinion. I think mistakes and delays were due to them being vengeful.

He consistently pushed me into taking a drug for high cholesterol that I refused to take. Made me sign my initials in my chart that I would take it anyway. I found out after several months of his putting a guilt trip on me that after you enter all the factors the computation shows I don't even qualify as a candidate for that treatment or medication. He also called in the wrong prescriptions for my elderly mother's blood thinner and had I given it to her it could have been lethal. Even after I notified him by emergency phone number he was too embarrassed to change the dose. I had to get it fixed from a different doctor. He kept handing me trial box of thyroid medication refusing to give me a real prescription after the same blood test result for several months. I had to finally get a real prescription from my primary care physician. Then his office charges me $75 for a no show appointment I never made and refused to take it off the books.

Spent a ton of money getting lab tests and seeing the doctor when I didn't have medical insurance. Dr. Roosevelt changed my medications over and over with less than favorable results and did not seem the least bit empathetic that it had negative physical impacts each time he did it. The doctor and his staff did not communicate clearly with me when changing my meds, so I ended up taking two meds instead of one for 6 months which caused me to loose a ton of my hair (25%-50%!) The staff reacted angrily at ME when they found out I had been taking both meds, instead of stopping and starting the new one. I finally gave up going to this doctor after spending $4k-5k with no positive results and lots of resulting physical issues (that did not exist before treatment). Staff was friendly but the doctor seemed very apathetic to my situation as a female. I didn't feel he listened or cared about my condition or helped treat me appropriately. He was very condescending and looked down at me as if I… was a stupid woman, even though I have my Masters.

Dr. Roosevelt was 'recommended' by another doctor. He spent 5 minutes with me and then sent his 'assistant' in to finish up. Stated my 'condition' was in my head and prescribed Xanax. Two months later, had emergency surgery, died on the table and was revived. Guess it wasn't it my 'head after all', it was my throat, idiopathic subglottic stenosis, to be precise. Had you spent as much time with me in the exam room, as you did with the male patients in the waiting room shooting the breeze, perhaps you would have had a different 'diagnosis'. By the way one should not bill 45 minute new patient exam when one only spends 10 minutes in total between you and your little girl assistant, it's insurance fraud. Perhaps if you're a male you'll get great service, but females beware, he'll think you just a silly woman 'over reacting' needing some Xanax.

Wonderful caring physician and staff. Prompt and accurate diagnoses and treatment. They care about you and prescribe what is best and not what your insurance company wants you to have.

Sorry it's so long, I have a lot to say. My diabetic sister has been Dr. R's patient for many years, so when I wondered what was making me feel so ill, I made an appt. Blood tests were ordered and I was told to come back in two weeks for the results, suffering the entire time. When I got the results from his PA I noticed the date stamp on the top of the page was the day after my first appt. I questioned why I had to wait two weeks for the results they got in one day. The PA brushed it off. When I asked more questions regarding the test results, she became defensive and briskly stated she had a Master's degree and was very qualified to interpret the findings. After many other "misunderstandings" between myself and his office, eventually I got a letter stating that Dr R would no longer be my doctor. My sister continues to see him although she complains every time and tells me she wishes she could change doctors. The one time she tried to transfer to a different dr, he informed her… that there is an agreement between himself and Dr R that they would not steal each other's patients, therefore, he would not take her. Dr R heard about this and told her she would never see any other endocrinologist in Boise if he had anything to do with it. Another story: During a clinical drug trial, the doctor went off-book and discovered a rare thyroid malfunction in my sister. The Dr prescribed a medication and my sister has now lost over 100 lbs in 7 months. She melted before our eyes. I wish I could post before and after pics. Dr R said, well how was I supposed to know? It's almost impossible to detect this condition unless you're looking for it. This Doctor Is Useless!! His PA is Petty, Cruel, and Mean!! The Front Desk Receptionist and the woman who bills Insurance (they are best friends) smile big to your face and always have something cheerful to say until they decide they don't like a person. Then they are petty and vindictive.

I've been seeing Dr. Roosevelt for my thyroid for four years. The office staff are caring and considerate, although there have been a few billing problems. The staff are good with my kids and very accommodating and kind when I bring them with me.I don't know what to think about the doctor himself. He spends about thirty seconds with me when I go; he just orders labs and prescribes medications. He doesn't really tell me what's going on with my own labs; he treats me like I'm not smart enough to understand or like I don't care. When I do ask questions, I don't get good answers. Because of this, I'm uncomfortable discussing my questions with him. Also he's missed pretty obvious details on my case before that makes me wonder if he even knows what my problems are.Sometimes I wonder why I have to go in at all; all he does is prescribe my synthroidit seems like a lab tech and a computer could do the job just as well. I'd like to change doctors but there isn't another endocrinologist nearby… and I don't dislike him enough to have to drive 60-90 minutes roundtrip to see another doctor.

Having tried the corporately owned physicians it was nice to find a doctor who would take the time to fight the insurance company to get me the medication I needed to control my diabetes without insulin. I am able to keep my truck driving job as a result of his direct intervention. Excellent diagnostician and advocate.

Let's keep this simple. He solved a problem of mine that no other endocrinologist was able to solve. He put me on a path that will substantially improve my health and life expectancy.
