Dr. Therese Fiorillo Shortt, DDS

Dr. Therese Shortt does NOT educate the patient on the procedure she's about to perform, she expects you to educate yourself, so please educate yourself! She also does not put the patient’s best interest first; instead she focuses on the 'profit' she will make off the procedure she performs. Unfortunately, I have to give at least 1 star, but Dr. Therese Shortt doesn't even deserve that! I put my trust and my smile into this educated doctor, to make the best decision, and she failed. I needed to have 1 tooth extracted and replaced, and an implant would've been the best option. Instead, I went with Dr. Shortt's medical opinion for a bridge. She said it would be more ‘aesthetically appealing’ since it’s in the front of my mouth. I have NEVER had a bridge, so I didn't know what she was about to do to my teeth. I thought a bridge was just a medical term for them connecting a single tooth to my teeth. She took 2 perfectly healthy teeth and ground them down to less than a 1/2 of a Tic Tac. I… was in so much pain! I called the office and complained about the work performed, only to be told I should've asked questions and need to educate myself on the procedure. I was blown away at the response! I went to two other doctors and both doctors gave the same diagnosis; an implant was the best option for me. The 'bridge' was recommended by Dr. Shortt, because of all the work would've been done at her office, so all of the money would go to her establishment. They actually turned in the claim to my insurance company, stating the work was complete, when in fact it was not. My insurance company stepped in, and they made the dentist office reimburse them for the claim they submitted, since they never completed the treatment. End result, I went to a different dentist and had to get a root canal on both teeth she shaved down as well as crowns. Mind you, there was NOTHING wrong with those teeth. I cut ties with her, due to poor dental practices, and I demanded a refund for the charges on work not done. I did receive a check, along with a letter from her office stating they could no longer see me due to a breakdown in the relationship between the patient and the doctor. I cut ties, so they had to cover themselves, shame on YOU! I've gone thru so much pain because of what she had done. I hope this review helps someone else, and saves them from the pain, suffering, and expense I have endured.
