Dr. Thomas A Alberico, MD

My appointment was cancelled and rescheduled without notifying me. Received call while traveling with no voicemail. I returned the call and was told the appointment was still on the schedule. When I arrived for the appointment I was told that Dr Alberico was out of town and my appointment was cancelled and rescheduled for a new date without any input from me. Totally unacceptable.

Dr. Alberico treats people like cattle. He is always overbooked and patients van expect to wait hours for scheduled appointments only to see him for a few rushed minutes during which he never seems truly present. Visits are so rushed you never feel that you receive thoughtful answers. He is disrespectful of people’s schedules and busy lives as with each visit you can expect to lose 2 to 5 hours of your day for a few lousy minutes with someone who is to rushed to answer the questions of people going through the most traumatic experience of their lives. Unconscionable behavior.

It is unacceptable to make patients wait three hours for a scheduled appointment and then rush through a visit because you are overscheduled. Highly disrespectful of others.

My mother who has been deceased since 1996 had Dr. Alberico as her Oncologist. He was humble, kind, honest with his patient ,my mother, & family about her cancer. He treated my Mom with chemo & was up front that it would be aggressive & prepped her for the side effects. I already knew the side effects as a nurse. He treated me as an educated daughter, not a nurse. Dr. Alberico gave my Mom 3 extra years to live. I always had his personal phone number should I need him for anything. I wouldn't hesitate to have him as an Oncologist. He's a good man & Great doctor!

10 years ago I had colon cancer that had spread. He saved my life. I am cancer free. I once mentioned to another doctor that I had the best best oncologist in Hampton Rd. This particular doctor in another specialty thinks he walks on water, he snapped what makes you think that ,who did you have Dr. Alberico. I said yes. He had nothing more to say on the subject.

He's very compassionate with his patients. Honest and upfront about your diagnosis and condition. His style is quite efficient, mostly with that he has a nurse practitioner or medical assistant first spend time with you. And mostly......he got it right with me and saved my life. I would refer my best friends and loved one's to him without hesitation.

In Tidewater. I had a rare cancer. He researched and checked with other cancer hospitals and centers and came up with a plan to give me a chance. I am now 5 years since the last chemo and in full remission. I owe him my life. A fine fine man. Yes you have to wait sometimes.. sometimes an hour or more.. but that is because he sees any of his patients who need him. If they are sick from chemo, he squeezes them in. He is very busy but always made time for me and anyone who needed him.
