Where do I even begin. This family medicine physician was appointed to me via the hospital while admitted. I came in with neurological symptoms , burning , stabbing pain all over my body . Now mind you this man has never laid eyes on me until today . He tried to tell me it was All in my head Conversion syndrome lmao(I can’t with these newbies wet behind the ears So called Dr’s). He is family medicine for god sake , not a specialist in either Neurology , ID, or EM. He needs to stick to DM which he specializes in ,and family medicine where people are NOT Complex. I was Med flighted two years ago when my horse threw me and caused severe injuries including broken pelvis, fractured sacrum, and l1 fx. I have osteoporosis at a young age and had to to a total hysterectomy. Unfortunately I have had 2 failed surgeries in my si joint with an abundance of titanium in my si joint . Kyphoplasty in my L1, and sacralplasty in sacrum. I am followed by pain management and currently on… narcotics. I am randomly and have been randomly drug tested x last 2 years , of which I have always passed with flying colors I am a nurse myself not that a nurse can’t abuse narcotics because they can! This man stands in my room and tells me my pain Dr whom specializes in pain management has prescribed and been prescribing me too high of a dose of narcotics. I try to educate him , he was not willing to listen . My pain Dr spoke to him, and wouldn’t you know he didn’t accuse her of over prescribing ! Instead he drug tests me of which I passed flying colors lmao! He then kicks my husband out of the Room . He asks” have you been abusing your thyroid medication to lose weight?”, I was at a loss of words ! I explained I would have my husband go home and get the box for him to prove to him I’m not taking any extra thyroid medication. I also sat back and had to ask myself is This man insinuating I need to lose weight? Then he asks are you on Prozac I was at such a loss of words. And sharply replied” absolutely NOT”. Not that there’s a problem with somebody being on this medication. How do you you insinuate that I am abusing or taking any of these medication’s. Just because you cannot figure out what’s wrong with me! He simply could’ve stated Patricia unfortunately we don’t know what’s going on we’re trying to find an answer. He then states” unfortunately we are not going to be able to help your oain , we cannot keep you comfortable.” I replied with “ you have got to be kidding me I’m not asking you to rid me of pain I’m asking you to make me more comfortable.” At which point he responds with” no we cannot make you more comfortable ,” I then ask this man to contact pharmacy, I explained that is usually what is done when I am admitted. He responded with “I guess we can do that I don’t know how much help they will be”. This man was so dismissive of my pain and my situation he then told me that I need to go to Boston and speak to a neurologist out there. I explained that I had a neurologist and that he was the one who sent me to St Lukes and that he evaluated me in his office and he was the one who called the rescue and sent me here. At this point this man went on to tell me that he is sure my neurologist will be in agreement with him that I need to go to Boston. I have since filed a complaint against this Dr. Thank God I know enough to advocate for myself what about those who do not? What about the elderly, what about the young person who has been denied medical care because maybe he or she is on narcotics. Is he treating them like a drug addict too?!” I have asked he not care for me , and I will stick to this ! Run while you can unless you are seeking a pcp, Or DM Dr. Very incompetent, and should not be a hospitalist!
