Dr. Thomas Bradley Benedict, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Benedicts' for nearly 20 years. He performed multiple arthroscope cleanups on my knee that allowed me to get into my 50s. At 52 he replaced my knee, the surgery was flawless, the pain was minimal and recovery was quick. After a recent diagnosed torn rotator cuff, Dr. Benedict repaired it without any issue and very little pain. His staff Vita and Stacy are organized and thorough with regards to insurance and office visits. The wait time has never exceed 15 minutes. Dr. Benedict and his office staff are in my opinion the best orthopedic team in the DFW area.

If you want someone to hold your hand and talk sweet, go elsewhere. If you want a great ortho, Dr. Benedict is your man. He is all business, no small talk, and gets to the point. Actually, he has a very, very dry sense of humor, but most folks don't catch it. I went to him with shoulder and knee issues. He said the shoulder wasn't an ortho issue and told me where to go to get it address; worked out great. The knee is horrible but he said to put off replacement as long as I could because I'm "too young" to have it (I was 58 at the time) and they only last so long. I appreciated the honesty and that he didn't want to rush into surgery, like a lot of docs.

this man has no bed side manner or any manners. I went to him for over 1 year and all he would do was give me anti-inflammatory pills and tell me to lose weight. I finally asked for a referral to another doctor and within 2 weeks of seeing the new doctor, I had a complete hip replacement and was finally pain free.

Dr. Benedict was dismissive, rude, talked over me, did not listen, belittled me and then had the nerve (after doing absolutely nothing and saying this "really isn't that big of a deal") to ask me to return in two weeks. FOR WHAT?!?!?!?!

Dr Bishop was a jerk. He argued with me about what had been administered to me in the hospital ( as a healthcare professional I was keeping very close track about which pills I swallowed). After a fall from a roof, severely fractured elbow with nerve compromise and bruised if not fractured ribs and severe bruising on both sides of my flank he would not administer Hydrocodone which had helped me in the hospital and would just give me tramadol which wasn't helping my pain very much. He argued with me about what medication had helped me in the hospital when I clearly knew what it helped me and it was hydrocodone. . He was so argumentative rude and not helpful.

Had I known how I was going to feel after my surgery and how I was going to be be treated by this doctor, I would not have gone to him. He seems very gruff and disinterested in how I am feeling and what I am experiencing. I have had a few concerns and he just dismissed them with a "That's the way it is...."I have no confidence in him and his ability, now. I now wonder that the procedure done to me was even done correctly..... Now what?

Dr. Benedict is a very good surgeon, I had a number of nurses tell me if they needed hip or knee surgery they would go to him and I agree after he did my hip replacement. He is all business in the office, but never acted like he didn't have time to answer my questions. He seems to enjoy being at the hospital and makes sure you have everything you need. I fell a couple of months after my surgery, on a Saturday, and landed on my hip and called his answering service and he immediately called me back and talked for quite awhile making sure everything was OK. I highly recommend Dr. Benedict.

I have never been treated so poorly by a professional in my life. This man treated me like dirt on the floor AND misdiagnosed me. He sent me home from the ER with an infected joint despite the lab work saying I had an infection.

A previous reviewer suggests Dr Benedict doesn't act like he "cares" sufficiently about his patients. Dr. Benedict's somewhat brusque, approaching rude, during office visits so if you're looking for a new best friend, another doctor might be better. If you need an experienced, talented, and very confident surgeon for a knee or hip replacement, however, Brad just might be your man. He exhibits an entirely different personality in a hospital environment, where he clearly enjoys himself. That Brad is hard to describe (cocky? bantering?), but pretty entertaining from a patient's perspective and just the sort of person you'd trust to work on your bones with power tools. My new knee works well.
