Dr. Thomas John Burke, DO

Dr. Burke has been my Dermatologist for 10+ years. Every time I have seen him, he is thorough, caring and completely understanding. I have referred so many friends and family members all whom have had great results as well My grandson (3y/o) suffered severe eczema for over 2 1/2 years and was seen by several physicians who couldn’t diagnose and treat one visit with Dr Burke all clear! The staff is always friendly and helpful, Dr. Burke will not sugar coat anything- just diagnose and treat in a professional manner!

He is not a doctor, he is a butcher. He will leave your body/face scared and his staff will laugh at you as you cry. True story. This place should be shut down. If you want to be treated properly, if you want a doctor that takes his time and knows what he is doing, if you want to be greeted by a friendly and professional staff - DONT GO HERE. Go anywhere BUT here!

I've been going to Burke Dermatology for years now and have always had a great experience. The front desk staff is warm and welcoming and the rest of the crew is always quick with a friendly smile. I've always worked with Dr. Burke and he is thorough and professional. Melinda Wachowski is my favorite medical assistant to work with! She is sweet, friendly, funny, professional, and calming. My 4yo loves going with me to see the fish in the aquarium and may even walk out with a toy or a balloon animal from one of the super sweet staff members. Highly recommend

Wham, bam comes to mind. Several years ago when my dermatologist retired, I was referred to Dr. Burke. I had had minor skin issues including a spot above my left eye that I told them had already been zapped at least twice and biopsied once. I assumed they obtained my records; I cannot reach the previous dermatologist now. At that time it was benign. I never met Dr. Burke. His PA, I guess, zapped me a few times over the past years and never indicated to me a need for anything but my annual visit. Before the last visit, I did notice that this spot was irritated, but nothing that prompted me to schedule an earlier visit. They finally biopsied it and this time it was basal cell. They scheduled me for mohs surgery. In surgery is the first and only time I ever met Dr. Burke. It turned into a triple mohs surgery. I took selfies and was horrified by what I saw. The report his office provided to my primary is a fiction that must be a standard blueprint they have. We don't have enough… dermatologists in Southern Delaware, but do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, especially if it is on your face. And do not go to Dr. Chang, the plastic surgeon across the hall. Between the two of them, I was left with an awful skin graft scar above my left eye that I have now had to go to another Plastic Surgeon to repair.

Everything seemed unprofessional. From the moment when I called to make an appointment with one of the rudest, most attitudinal of females on the phone (the receptionist) to the meeting I had with the supposed “dermatologist”. When I was taken into the room, I was asked a few brief questions, but I felt I was offering up information that I felt the dr. or assistant should know or want to hear about (i.e. My diet, my skin care routine, etc...). Dr. Burke asked about none of that, and he was in the room with me for a total of 4 minutes. The assistant seemed kind and did most of the work, and even that solely consisted of covering my face in strong alcohol and using a silver tool to draw pus out of my face. They did not get everything out. She did drew our most of it, until Burke told her “you got most of it? That should be fine.” He asked me about nothing involving my skin, he did not inform me of what could be clogging my pores or why he was prescribing me a lotion and what the… lotion was and when I asked if I should do a follow-up, he said “ehh...well try the prescription I’m giving and if it doesn’t seem to do anything in a month, give us a call back.” I know it has only been a few days later, but the only differences between my skin then and now is that NOW I have inflamed red bumps all over my face. It looks worse than when I went into the office. And if it continues to look this way, I will be making phone calls. I feel as though this was a total waste of money and time. Who on earth gave this office certification?

Doctor Burke was very preoccupied and in a hurry. I was not satisfied at all with our initial short visit so I asked for him to return to the room. My entire experience consisted of two very short visits (less than 5 minutes each) after sitting in the waiting room for an hour. He had one foot out the door and I left feeling extremely disappointed. Overall, the staff seemed just as uninterested. Hundreds of dollars later, if I had it to do again, I would not have chosen this office. If I had seen these reviews prior to committing, I would have kept searching. I was afraid to post anything negative, but it's important to let others know and thanks to those of you who shared positive and negative reviews. It's not easy, but if I can possibly prevent this from happening to another person, it's worth it. I was a one-time patient of Dr. Thomas Burke.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Burke Dermatology! From the moment I walked in everyone was warm and welcoming. Dr. Burke listened to my requests and knocked it out of the park with his suggestions and my results were more than I hoped for. He was so incredibly kind. I would recommend him to absolutely anyone and everyone. Seriously, go see him you won't regret it!!!

I would not recommend Dr. Burke. I went to see him because of skin cancer (moles) concerns. I was new patient to him and he spent under 4 minutes with me. He came in shook my hand and said "show me where" and sprayed 2 spots. I believe he should have explained what was going to happen to these spots...if I needed or should come back if "x" happens or doesn't happen. He is in this for the $$$ and only the money. Please let me stress that I love an office that runs on time and I love to get in and out of an office appointment. Having said that...........this was ridiculous. Money hungry Dr. for sure. I will find another doctor to continue my treatments with. Beware.

I was given an appointment immediately. My daughter was seen the next day. Dr. Burke had an excellent bed side manner. He was very kind, knowledgable and empathetic towards my daughter.

Has been a great help with my plaque psoriasis.
